Warnings and safety precautions

Main risks

  • Skin, eye and respiratory irritation from fibres, dust or loose particles.
  • Cuts and punctures when handling panels, sheets, staples or cutting tools.
  • Inhalation of vapours from adhesives, sealants or foams; risk of dizziness and flammability while they cure.
  • Fire or overheating if installed near recessed light fittings, fireplaces, ducts or heat-emitting equipment.
  • Electric shock or damage if cables are pierced or electrical boxes and connections are covered.
  • Condensation and mould from trapping moisture or incorrectly installing vapour barriers.
  • Falls, impacts and heat stress during work on roofs, suspended ceilings or in confined spaces.
  • Settling, deformation or loss of performance if over-compressed or poorly installed.

Safe use

  • Review the product instructions and confirm suitability for indoor/outdoor use and for dry or wet areas.
  • Use PPE: gloves, long sleeves, goggles and a respirator (e.g., FFP2) for dusty or fibrous tasks; hearing protection when cutting with power tools.
  • Work with good ventilation; avoid flames, sparks and smoking when using adhesives, sealants or foams.
  • Before drilling or stapling, locate wiring and pipes; switch off the power in the area where necessary.
  • Maintain safe clearances from heat sources and light fittings; use compatible accessories where required by the manufacturer.
  • Do not block grilles, ventilation openings or drains; maintain air cavities in roofs and facades.
  • Cut on stable surfaces with appropriate tools; fit pieces without gaps, avoiding excessive compression.
  • Handle foams, glues and sealants according to the container instructions; avoid skin contact and allow full cure before closing cavities.
  • Sprayed or blown-in applications and work at height or in confined spaces may require specific training and equipment; only undertake these tasks if you are properly trained and equipped.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store products in a dry, well-ventilated place, protected from rain, moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Keep them away from heat and ignition sources; some foams and solvents are flammable before curing.
  • Keep in their original packaging until use; stack panels flat without excessive weight; do not over-compress rolls.
  • Pressurised containers (aerosol foams): store upright and within the temperature range specified by the manufacturer.
  • Observe the expiry dates of adhesives, sealants and foams to ensure performance.
  • After installation, inspect periodically for moisture, mould, pests, detachment or sagging; replace damaged or wet areas.
  • Keep access panels, electrical boxes and inspection points accessible; do not seal them permanently.
  • For cleaning, remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or soft brush; avoid wetting the insulation.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not use as a structural element, load-bearing support or walking surface; do not walk on insulated suspended ceilings.
  • Do not install in direct contact with chimneys, stoves, recessed light fittings or other high-temperature sources unless the product is designed for it.
  • Do not cover light fittings, electrical boxes, extractor outlets, ventilation grilles or drains.
  • Do not use in exposed outdoor areas, areas with standing water or below ground unless using products specifically intended for those conditions.
  • Do not combine layers, adhesives or vapour barriers of different types without checking the compatibility stated by the manufacturer.
  • Do not cut, nail or staple in areas where you have not verified the absence of cables or pipes.
  • Do not incinerate offcuts or use aggressive solvents for cleaning; dispose of waste safely.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets; installation must be carried out under adult supervision.
