Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Burns from steam and hot surfaces during heating or sterilising.
- Scalds from overheating the contents or hot spots in milk or food.
- Pressure build-up and leaks if a closed bottle is heated with the teat or cap on.
- Spills of hot water due to tipping over or moving the appliance while in operation.
- Electric shock risk from the appliance or plug coming into contact with water, or from damaged cables.
- Bacterial contamination due to insufficient cleaning or keeping milk warm for too long.
- Damage to or warping of bottles and accessories not compatible with high temperatures.
Safe use
- Place the appliance on a flat, stable surface, away from edges and flammable materials.
- Use the amount of water specified by the manufacturer; do not overfill or run it dry.
- Remove the teat, cap and discs before heating to prevent pressure build-up.
- Use clean, compatible bottles and accessories; disassemble parts before sterilising.
- Keep hands and face away from steam; open the lid facing away from your body and let the steam escape before removing parts.
- Do not move the appliance while it is operating or when it contains hot water.
- After heating, gently shake the bottle and check the temperature on the back of your wrist before feeding the baby.
- Do not keep the contents warm for prolonged periods or reheat multiple times.
- Do not cover steam outlets or vents; monitor the cycle and remove hot parts with tongs if necessary.
- Plug into a socket in good condition and do not overload extension leads; keep the cable out of the child's reach.
- Use microwave sterilisers only if the product is designed for it and follow the time and power settings specified by the manufacturer.
Storage and maintenance
- Empty and dry the reservoir after each use; replace the water for each cycle and use drinking water.
- Descale periodically as directed by the manufacturer; avoid abrasive or corrosive products.
- Clean and dry trays, baskets, lids and accessories to remove milk residue and moisture.
- Allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning or storing it.
- Regularly check the cable, plug and parts; stop using the appliance if you detect damage and replace any damaged accessories.
- Store in a dry, well-ventilated place, out of reach of children and away from sources of heat or moisture.
Usage restrictions
