Plant Protection Covers

Warnings and safety precautions

Main risks

  • Overheating and dehydration of plants due to lack of ventilation or intense sun exposure under the cover.
  • Detachment or tearing due to wind, which may cause impacts or damage to the surroundings.
  • Tripping over ropes, pegs, rods or edges of the cover.
  • Risk of suffocation or entanglement for children and pets from plastic sheeting and cords.
  • Fire or deformation if the cover is brought close to flames, embers or heat sources.
  • Persistent condensation that encourages mould and plant diseases.
  • Cuts or pinches when handling rods, wires, zips or clips.
  • Damage to stems and shoots from continuous rubbing or from the build-up of water, ice or snow.

Safe use

  • Choose a cover of the appropriate size and fit it without compressing leaves or stems.
  • Secure the cover with pegs, ropes or weights; gather and trim any excess so nothing is left loose.
  • Leave ventilation points and open or remove the cover during the hottest hours; avoid sealing it completely.
  • Keep a distance from barbecues, heaters, lights and heating cables; do not cover plugs or electrical appliances.
  • Check frequently during periods of heat, frost or wind; readjust fixings and tension when necessary.
  • Remove accumulated snow, water or dirt with gentle movements to avoid damaging the plant.
  • Wear gloves when installing or removing to prevent cuts and abrasions, especially if metal supports are present.
  • Avoid covering immediately after watering or applying treatments; wait until the plant is dry.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean with water and mild soap, rinse and allow to dry completely before storing.
  • Do not use bleach or solvents that could damage the material.
  • Check seams, eyelets and zips; repair or replace if there are tears or loose parts.
  • Store folded or rolled in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets to prevent suffocation or entanglement.
  • Do not place weight on top of the stored cover to avoid deformation.
  • Before each season, check that the material is not brittle or degraded.

Usage restrictions

  • Not a toy or a shelter; do not use for sitting, climbing or as a net or hammock.
  • Do not use in strong winds, storms or when there is a risk of heavy snow that could collapse the cover.
  • Do not place near open flames, embers, cigarettes, fireplaces or grills.
  • Do not use indoors without adequate ventilation or over radiators, heaters or other hot appliances.
  • Do not cover plants in full bloom for prolonged periods if they require pollination; ventilate or remove periodically.
  • Adult supervision is required during installation and when children or pets are nearby.
  • Do not use to cover aquariums, cages, cots, prams or food.
  • If combined with electric growing equipment, ensure separation and ventilation; avoid direct contact with lamps or heating elements.
