Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts when handling and cutting planks or tiles with a utility knife or other tools.
  • Slips on wet surfaces or those with dust, water or adhesive residues.
  • Trips caused by loose pieces, buckling or changes in level during installation.
  • Injuries from lifting and moving heavy boxes or furniture without adequate assistance.
  • Irritation from dust generated during subfloor preparation and from adhesive fumes.
  • Damage from standing moisture that may cause warping or mould in the subfloor.
  • Deterioration from direct heat (embers, stoves, intense sunlight) or sparks.
  • Scratches caused by grit or sand, hard castors or furniture legs without protectors.
  • Discolouration due to prolonged contact with rubber or unsuitable chemicals.

Safe use

  • Read and follow the manufacturer's specific instructions for the type of vinyl flooring purchased.
  • Work in a clear, well-lit area; keep children and pets away during installation.
  • Use cut-resistant gloves and cut on a stable surface, keeping hands away from the blade.
  • Ventilate the area properly, especially if using adhesives; avoid nearby flames or sparks.
  • Prepare the subfloor clean, dry and level; do not install over visible moisture.
  • If indicated by the manufacturer, acclimatise the planks/tiles in the room before installation.
  • Check compatibility with underfloor heating and observe the temperature limits specified by the manufacturer.
  • Maintain the required expansion gaps and use transition profiles where there are height changes.
  • Lift furniture with assistance; do not drag it. Fit felt pads, caps or protectors under legs and castors.
  • Clean up spills immediately and dry to reduce the risk of slipping and moisture damage.
  • Use mats and chair mats compatible with vinyl flooring.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the boxes horizontally, in a dry, ventilated place, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
  • Avoid placing them vertically or subjecting them to excessive weight that could deform them.
  • Maintain a stable room temperature during and after installation, as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove grit and abrasive particles.
  • Clean with a slightly damp mop and a mild pH-neutral detergent; avoid pooling water.
  • Do not use steam, waxes, abrasive polishes or solvents unless permitted by the manufacturer.
  • Dry thoroughly after cleaning, especially at joints and perimeters.
  • Periodically check edges and joints; replace or readjust loose or damaged pieces.
  • Protect the floor from prolonged intense sunlight with curtains or blinds when necessary.

Usage restrictions

  • Not suitable for outdoors or areas exposed to continuous weathering, unless specifically designed for this.
  • Avoid use in saunas, showers, steam rooms or other spaces with extreme heat or humidity.
  • Do not expose the floor to open flames, braziers, stoves without an insulating base, or appliances that emit direct heat.
  • Do not restrict the movement of floating floors with rigid fixings.
  • Do not drag appliances or heavy furniture without appropriate sliders or protectors.
  • Do not use mats with rubber backings or other materials that may stain unless they are declared compatible.
  • Do not apply paints, varnishes or treatments not specifically intended for vinyl flooring.
  • Do not clean with high-pressure water jets or leave standing water.
  • In homes with children, older people or those with reduced mobility, be extra vigilant with spill clean-up and use non-slip rugs with suitable backing.
