Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Falling or becoming detached if the fixings are inadequate or the unit is not level.
  • Injuries when handling heavy, fragile parts: trapped fingers and cuts from edges or shards in the event of breakage.
  • Cracks due to impacts, point loads or bearing on the edges; possible damage due to sudden thermal changes.
  • Leaks through poorly sealed joints or holes, with a risk of mould and damage to the unit.
  • Stains or discolouration from contact with harsh chemicals, dyes or cosmetics.
  • Marks or burns from placing very hot appliances or objects on the surface.
  • Wet, soapy surface: objects may slip and there is a higher likelihood of breakage.

Safe use

  • Before installation, check measurements, support points and the load capacity of the unit or brackets; level the structure.
  • Handle the worktop with two people, using gloves and edge protection; do not drag it.
  • Fix using the specified fittings and, where appropriate, secure it to the wall; avoid looseness and stresses on the surface.
  • Seal the basin perimeter, wall joints and holes with a sealant suitable for wet areas; check there are no leaks.
  • Immediately clean up water, dye and cosmetic spills with a soft cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner; avoid abrasive scouring pads.
  • Use coasters, trivets or mats for hot appliances and potentially staining products.
  • Do not cut, hammer or place concentrated loads on the surface; do not use it as a step.
  • Keep the surface as dry as possible and ventilate the bathroom to reduce condensation and mould.

Storage and maintenance

  • Before assembly, store horizontally on a flat, dry surface, with edge protection; avoid exposure to the elements and direct sunlight.
  • Avoid prolonged moisture and sudden thermal changes during storage.
  • Clean regularly with water and a pH-neutral soap; dry afterwards to minimise stains and water marks.
  • Check joints and seals periodically; renew the sealant if it is cracked, detached or there are signs of leakage.
  • Make sure fixings and supports remain secure and that no cracks appear; act immediately if you detect movement or cracking.
  • Follow the specific care instructions for your worktop material.

Restrictions of use

  • Do not sit, stand or hang from the worktop; avoid loads above those permitted by the unit or its supports.
  • Do not place hair straighteners, curling tongs or other very hot items, or boiling containers, directly on the surface.
  • Do not use concentrated bleach, paint strippers, solvents, acids or abrasive cleaners; avoid prolonged contact with dyes without protection.
  • Do not drill, cut or modify the worktop without verifying compatibility with the material and the existing installation.
  • Do not use the worktop if it is cracked, coming away or unstable; discontinue use until it has been repaired.
  • Keep chemicals and tools out of the reach of children; do not allow children to climb on or lean on the edges.
