• Difficulty seeing or breathing with masks or hoods that fit too tightly
• Falls and trips due to long hems, trailing capes or unsuitable footwear
• Cuts or impacts from rigid costume accessories (swords, wands, shields)
• Skin irritation from prolonged contact with certain fabrics or dyes
• Overheating and dehydration in hot environments or during intense activity
• Snagging on furniture, doors, escalators or bicycles
• Risk of suffocation from packaging bags if used for play

Safe use

• Choose the correct size; adjust fastenings and drawstrings so they are neither too tight nor excessively loose
• Try the costume on before the event and check that there are no loose parts or sharp edges
• Remove and dispose of packaging immediately, keeping it out of reach of children
• Always keep the costume away from flames, candles, fireworks and intense sources of heat
• If it includes a mask or hood, check ventilation and field of vision; take frequent breaks and avoid running
• Secure or shorten long hems and trailing capes; wear stable, comfortable footwear
• Use soft, lightweight accessories; avoid pointed tips and sharp edges
• Wear a thin base layer to reduce direct friction against the skin
• Add reflective elements or portable lighting when used outdoors in low light
• Remove the costume if it gets wet or causes itching, redness or difficulty breathing
• Teach children not to bring the costume near fireworks or cookers

Storage and maintenance

• Follow the care label instructions for cleaning and drying
• Allow the costume to dry completely before storing to prevent odours or mould
• Store in a cool, dry place away from heat sources and direct sunlight
• Hang or fold without compressing; protect masks and hats so they do not become misshapen
• After each use, check seams, fastenings and embellishments; repair or remove any that are loose
• Keep accessories and small parts stored separately and out of reach of younger children
• Keep plastic bags out of children’s reach
• If the costume includes electronic components or batteries, remove or disconnect them before cleaning or storing

Usage restrictions

• Use under adult supervision for children, especially in the street, at crowded events or near traffic
• Avoid costumes with small parts, long drawstrings or closed masks for children under 36 months
• Do not use for sleeping or naps
• Do not use near flames, barbecues, fireworks, heaters or when cooking
• Do not wear the costume for cycling, riding a scooter or skating if it limits vision or mobility, or if it has dangling elements
• Do not enter the water wearing capes, long skirts, helmets or masks
• Do not add lights, candles, flammable aerosols or other items that could increase the risk of fire
• Avoid closed masks for people with breathing difficulties or during intense physical activity
