Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Furniture tipping over due to sudden movements, uneven weight distribution, or incorrect castor installation.
- Fingers being caught or pinched in swivel, fixing or brake areas during installation and use.
- Damage to delicate floors if the castor material is unsuitable or if embedded dirt causes scratching.
- Unintended movement of the furniture if the brakes are not engaged (where fitted) or on sloping surfaces.
- Loosening of screws or axles with use, potentially causing the castor to detach.
- Breakage due to overloading, impacts against edges/obstacles, or use on very uneven surfaces.
- Risk of tripping when moving the furniture near cables, thick rugs or thresholds.
- Injury to people (including children) or pets when manoeuvring the furniture.
Safe use
- Ensure the fixing system and castor size are compatible with the furniture base and its intended use.
- Observe the indicated maximum load for the assembly (furniture and contents) and distribute the weight evenly.
- Fit the same type and height of castor at all corners to maintain stability.
- Engage the brakes whenever the furniture must remain stationary and check they lock correctly.
- Move the furniture slowly, holding it by solid parts of the frame and avoiding sudden turns.
- Avoid slopes and edges; clear the route of cables, curled rugs and small objects.
- Protect delicate floors by using suitable castors or protectors where needed.
- Keep hands and clothing away from swivel areas and brakes when manoeuvring.
- Before first use and after any adjustment, test rolling and stability with no load or a light load.
Storage and maintenance
- Periodically check the tightness of screws, nuts and fixings; readjust if you detect any play.
- Clean the castors with a soft cloth; remove hair, threads and dirt from the axles and treads.
- Replace immediately any castor that is cracked, deformed or has a brake that does not lock properly.
- If permitted by the manufacturer, apply light lubrication to swivel points; avoid corrosive products.
- Do not use harsh solvents or high-pressure water that could damage materials or fixings.
- Store spare castors in a dry place, at a stable temperature and protected from dust.
- After cleaning or adjustment, verify that all castors swivel and brake correctly before loading the furniture.
Restrictions of use
- Do not exceed the recommended maximum load or use the furniture to transport people.
- Do not use indoor castors outdoors, in damp areas or at extreme temperatures unless specified by the product.
- Avoid use on stairs, gratings, very uneven surfaces or steep slopes.
- Do not mix castors of different heights or specifications on the same piece of furniture.
- Do not use generic adhesives if the furniture requires mechanical fixing; follow the specified mounting system.
- Do not allow children to play on wheeled furniture or to manoeuvre it without supervision.
- Do not drag the furniture over obstacles that could block or damage the castors.
