Main risks

• Inhalation of dust and spores when opening or pouring, which may irritate the respiratory tract and cause discomfort in people with allergies or asthma.
• Skin or eye irritation from direct contact with the material, especially on sensitive skin or where there are small cuts.
• Strain and muscular injuries from lifting or carrying heavy bags.
• Cuts or punctures when opening the bags, or from possible hard elements present in the substrate.
• Slips and falls if the substrate is spilled on smooth or wet surfaces.
• Risk of suffocation from the plastic packaging bags if handled improperly near children.
• Growth of mould, unpleasant odours or presence of insects if the product becomes damp or is stored open for long periods.

Safe use

• Open and handle the substrate outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid bringing your face close to the bag when opening.
• Lightly moisten the contents before pouring to reduce dust formation. Pour slowly and from a low height.
• Wear gardening gloves; if dust is generated, consider respiratory protection and avoid contact with eyes. Wash your hands after use.
• Keep small cuts covered and avoid touching your face while handling the product.
• To lift bags, bend your knees, keep your back straight and distribute the load. Use a wheelbarrow or assistance if necessary.
• Cut the packaging away from your body and remove staples or loose plastic immediately.
• Clean up spills immediately and keep walkways clear and dry to prevent slips.
• Keep the product and the work area out of the reach of children and pets during handling.

Storage and maintenance

• Store in its original packaging, tightly closed, in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, protected from rain and direct sunlight.
• Place the bags on a raised surface or pallet to prevent absorption of moisture from the ground.
• After opening, seal tightly and preferably use within a reasonable period. If the contents become damp, air the material before use.
• Do not store near food, animal feed or drinking water. Keep the packaging protected from pests.
• Avoid sources of heat and open flames near very dry, dusty material.
• Dispose of leftovers and packaging responsibly. Do not throw substrate into drains or toilets; it may cause blockages.
• Do not use the contents if you detect abundant mould, strong unusual odours or foreign objects that compromise its safety.

Restrictions on use

• Not suitable for human or animal consumption. Prevent children or pets from ingesting or playing with the substrate.
• Do not use in aquariums, terrariums, filters or hydroponic systems unless the product expressly states it is compatible.
• Do not use the substrate as play sand, animal bedding or an absorbent for chemical spills.
• People with asthma, respiratory allergies or immunosuppression should avoid exposure to dust and use appropriate protection or ask for help with handling.
• Do not use the product in enclosed, unventilated spaces. Always keep plastic bags away from the face and do not use them as toys.
• Avoid mixing with unknown substances that may cause unwanted reactions or unpleasant odours.
