Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Slips and falls on wet, icy, oily or highly polished surfaces, especially with smooth or worn soles.
  • Ankle sprains or loss of stability with high heels, platforms or unsuitable sizes.
  • Chafing, blisters or excessive pressure due to friction or a poor fit.
  • Laces, buckles, straps or embellishments catching on escalators, pedals or bicycle spokes.
  • Skin pinches with zips or fasteners if handled in a rush.
  • Reduced control when driving with very high heels, bulky or rigid soles.
  • Water ingress and temporary loss of traction when wet; possible staining due to colour migration with moisture.
  • Skin irritation in people sensitive to certain materials or metals.

Safe use

  • Choose the correct size and secure laces and fastenings well without over-tightening to maintain support and comfort.
  • Break them in gradually and wear suitable socks to reduce chafing.
  • Before walking quickly, check the sole's grip; take short, steady steps on wet or uneven surfaces.
  • Keep laces well tied and the ends tucked in to avoid snagging; take particular care on escalators.
  • Clean mud or grit from the sole to restore grip and prevent it being tracked into the house or car.
  • When putting on or taking off the boot, fully open fastenings and guide the zip to avoid pinching the skin.
  • For driving, wear footwear that allows good feel and control of the pedals; change footwear if the heel or platform makes this difficult.
  • If using protective sprays or care products, apply them in well-ventilated areas, away from flames, and test first on an inconspicuous area.
  • Stop using them if you notice broken seams, a detached sole or a loose heel; repairing or replacing them reduces the risk of tripping.

Storage and maintenance

  • Air-dry after getting wet, away from direct heat sources; stuff with paper to help maintain shape and absorb moisture.
  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight which can discolour or crack materials.
  • Do not stack or leave weight on top for prolonged periods to avoid deformation; use shoe trees or vertical storage where possible.
  • Clean with a soft cloth or brush according to the material; avoid abrasive products that could damage the finish.
  • Periodically check the wear of the sole and heel tips; replacing them in good time improves stability.
  • Keep zips and buckles clean; if they jam, use a suitable lubricant in small amounts to avoid staining.
  • Remove removable insoles to air them and reduce odours; allow everything to dry completely before wearing again.
  • Keep polishes, creams and sprays out of the reach of children and pets.

Usage restrictions

  • They are not a substitute for technical footwear for work, hiking, climbing, motorcycling or sports; avoid using them for high-impact or high-risk activities.
  • Avoid walking on ice or very slippery surfaces if the sole does not provide the necessary grip.
  • Do not alter the structure (cut, pierce, glue on soles or DIY lifts); this can compromise stability and support.
  • Avoid prolonged use of very high heels; alternate with more stable options to reduce fatigue and strain.
  • Do not use them if they are very wet or if mud has built up on the sole until they have been cleaned and dried.
  • For children, ensure a correct fit and supervise on stairs, in parks, and in areas with traffic or on escalators.
