Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts or punctures from strings under tension and sharp ends after restringing.
  • Knocks and drops of the instrument that can cause injury or damage to the guitar.
  • Finger entrapment injuries in tuning pegs, bridge or saddles during adjustments.
  • Risk to hearing from exposure to high volumes with amplification or headphones.
  • Trip hazards from cables, pedals and straps in walkways.
  • Risk of electric shock if the model is electric or has integrated electronics and is used with damaged equipment or cables, or in damp environments.
  • Choking or accidental ingestion of small detachable parts (strap buttons, screws, covers, batteries in models with a preamplifier).
  • Skin irritation or allergic reactions from contact with string metals, woods or unsuitable cleaning products.

Safe use

  • Change and tension the strings calmly, keeping your face and eyes away from their path; trim and protect the cut ends.
  • Check that the strap is securely anchored before playing; consider strap locks if use is active or live.
  • Place the guitar on a stable stand; avoid leaning it against walls or furniture where it may slip.
  • Operate tuning pegs and bridge without forcing; if you notice unusual resistance, stop to avoid breakages.
  • If the model is electric, connect and disconnect with the amplifier at low volume; keep your hands dry and the equipment away from liquids.
  • Manage cabling so it does not cross walkways; unplug by pulling the plug, never the cable.
  • Adjust the volume progressively and limit prolonged exposure to high levels; consider hearing protection during long rehearsals.
  • During transport, use a suitable gig bag or case and fasten zips or latches securely; do not place weight on top.
  • Use soft cloths and dedicated cleaning products; apply the product to the cloth, not directly onto the instrument.
  • Perform only basic tasks (cleaning, string changes); for electrical repairs or complex internal adjustments, seek a qualified service technician.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the guitar in a gig bag or case when not in use, in a dry, ventilated place, away from heat sources, direct sunlight or extreme cold.
  • Avoid abrupt changes in temperature and humidity; acclimatise the instrument gradually after transport.
  • Wipe off sweat and moisture after playing; clean strings and surfaces with a soft cloth to reduce corrosion.
  • Replace rusted, worn or frayed strings to prevent unexpected breakages.
  • Periodically check strap buttons, visible screws and tuning pegs; tighten moderately if they are loose.
  • Keep cables tidy and free from sharp bends; discard those that show cuts or loose connectors.
  • Do not store the guitar damp inside the case; air it from time to time to prevent odours and mould.
  • If the model uses an internal battery, remove it if it will not be used for long periods to prevent leakage.

Usage restrictions

  • Not a toy; keep out of reach of small children. Children's use should be under adult supervision.
  • Do not use in the rain, in wet areas or on unstable surfaces.
  • Do not sit on, lean on or hang objects from the instrument or the strap.
  • Do not open cavities or modify the wiring or electronics without appropriate knowledge; improper interventions may cause faults or hazards.
  • Do not use solvents, strong alcohols or abrasive cleaners on the finish or the fingerboard.
  • Do not connect electric guitars to equipment, sockets or cables that are damaged.
  • Do not change strings near other people or pets to avoid accidental snap-back.
