Usage Warnings

Vacuum Chambers

Safety warnings and precautions

Main hazards

  • Risk of implosion due to damage, material fatigue or misuse, with possible ejection of fragments.
  • Pinch points and cuts when closing or opening the lid and when handling seals and edges.
  • Exposure to vapours and mists from processed materials or from the vacuum pump exhaust.
  • Hot surfaces on auxiliary equipment (pumps, connections), with burn hazard.
  • Hose whip or sudden disconnection of hoses and accessories under vacuum.
  • High noise from pumps and equipment, with possible discomfort or hearing damage with prolonged use.
  • Electrical hazard from wet or damaged cables, plugs or equipment in the work area.

Safe use

  • Place the chamber on a stable, level and clear surface. Keep a safety zone around it and, if possible, use a protective screen or work at a distance.
  • Always wear eye protection; add suitable gloves for the material handled and hearing protection if the equipment generates high noise.
  • Check before each use: absence of cracks or deep scratches in the viewing window/body, condition of seals, hoses, fittings, valves and gauge.
  • Apply vacuum gradually and do not exceed the level recommended by the manufacturer. Monitor the gauge and vent the chamber slowly to prevent sudden ejection of contents or fragments.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area. Keep flames, sparks and heat sources away. With vapours, direct the pump exhaust to a mist filter/eliminator or to the outside where appropriate.
  • Use only materials compatible with the chamber body, seals and accessories. Avoid impacts, scratching and sudden thermal changes; do not heat above the specified limit.
  • Do not use the chamber with compressed gases or as a positive-pressure vessel.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean after each use with soft cloths and compatible products. Avoid abrasives and solvents that could damage windows and seals.
  • Dry the interior completely and remove residues of resins, oils or dusts to prevent deterioration and cross-contamination.
  • Store the chamber at ambient pressure (no vacuum) with the lid resting without pressure to avoid deforming the seal. Keep in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, impacts and extreme temperatures.
  • Inspect seals, hoses, valves and gauge periodically; replace parts that are stiff, cracked or leaking.
  • Carry out leak tests periodically. If it does not hold vacuum, stop using it until the cause is identified and corrected.
  • Maintain the vacuum pump and filters according to the manufacturer's instructions and use mist collectors/eliminators or traps when working with vapours.
  • Transport the chamber with adequate protection and securing; do not lift it by the viewing window, valves or hoses.

Restrictions on use

  • For use only by adults familiar with the equipment. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not use with explosive, pyrophoric, highly reactive substances, compressed gases or flammable mixtures. Avoid operating in atmospheres with combustible vapours.
  • Do not use in unventilated spaces or near open flames, sparks or equipment that could generate ignition.
  • Do not use if the chamber shows visible damage, a scratched or cracked viewing window, deformation, leaks or accessories in poor condition.
  • Do not modify, drill or add accessories not provided for by the manufacturer.
  • Do not exceed the working temperature or vacuum level specified for the model.
  • Do not use for food contact unless the product explicitly states this.
