Safety warnings and precautions
Key risks
- Cuts when handling utility knives, scissors or bladed dispensers.
- Skin irritation or allergic reactions from contact with the adhesive; discomfort when removing tape adhered to body hair.
- Damage or lifting of paint, varnish and delicate finishes when peeling off the tape; possible sticky residue.
- Adhesion failure if applied to dirty, damp or dusty surfaces, with a risk of items falling or packages opening.
- Electrical hazard if unsuitable tape is used on cables or joints.
- Fire hazard when exposing the tape to heat sources, sparks or flames.
- Slips caused by tape remnants or liners on the floor.
- Choking or strangulation if children or pets play with rolls, strips or plastic wrapping.
- Inhalation of vapours or unpleasant odours from some adhesives in poorly ventilated spaces.
- Finger pinches or entrapment in dispensers with rollers and blades.
Safe use
- Choose the right tape for the task (packaging, masking, double-sided, marking, electrical insulation, etc.).
- Apply to clean, dry, dust- and grease-free surfaces; test in an inconspicuous area to check adhesion and removal.
- Do not overstretch the tape during application; press evenly to ensure full contact.
- For cables, only use tapes designed for electrical insulation and always work with the power switched off.
- Do not use the tape as a load-bearing element, anchor, harness or for structural repair.
- Avoid prolonged skin contact; if it adheres accidentally, remove it gently.
- Always cut away from your hands and body; store blades and dispensers with the blade covered.
- Ventilate the area if you notice a strong odour and keep the tape away from flames or sparks during application.
- Do not cover ventilation slots, safety labels or surfaces that must dissipate heat.
- On floors or for signage, secure the edges and check periodically to prevent lifting and tripping.
- Remove liners and offcuts immediately and dispose of them to prevent slips or accidental ingestion.
- If the application is temporary, remove the tape within a reasonable timeframe to reduce residue and minimise the risk of pulling off the finish.
Storage and maintenance
- Store tapes in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and moisture.
- Keep rolls in their packaging or a sealed bag to prevent dust and dirt on the adhesive edges.
- Avoid crushing or deforming the rolls; do not place excessive weight on top.
- Protect tapes from prolonged UV exposure, which can degrade the adhesive.
- Check their condition periodically: if the adhesive is dried out, cracked or shows clear loss of adhesion, do not use it for critical applications.
- Clean dispensers, scissors and blades regularly, removing adhesive residue with a suitable non-abrasive cleaner.
- Organise the rolls so the oldest are used first.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Dispose of offcuts and liners in an appropriate container; avoid leaving them loose in the work area.
Restrictions on use
- Not suitable for lifting loads, restraining people or as protective equipment.
- Do not use as a permanent seal on pressurised pipes or in gas or water systems.
- Do not apply on components that reach high temperatures, near flames or in areas with a risk of sparks.
- Do not use in direct contact with food, broken skin or sensitive areas.
- Do not use as the sole fastening method where failure could cause personal injury or the fall of heavy objects.
- Do not apply on wet, dusty, greasy or freshly painted surfaces without prior testing.
- Do not use on live cables or to make makeshift joints in electrical installations.
- Not intended for continuous immersion underwater or for prolonged outdoor exposure unless the product specifies this.
- Do not allow use by children without adult supervision; keep away from babies due to the risk of suffocation or strangulation.
- Do not use in safety systems (for example, airbags, brakes or other critical components).
