Usage Warnings
Chucks and Nut Setters
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Ejection of drill bits, driver bits or the coupling itself due to insufficient clamping or incompatibility.
- Trapping and pinching of fingers when tightening or loosening chucks and sleeves.
- Run-out and vibrations that may cause loss of control and fatigue.
- Breakage of the accessory or shank due to overload, impacts or misuse.
- Ejection of particles and swarf during operation.
- Burns from heating of the chuck or coupling after prolonged use.
- Impact injuries if the tool is started with the chuck key left in place.
Safe use
- Disconnect the tool from the mains or remove the battery before fitting or changing the accessory.
- Check the compatibility of the clamping type (thread, taper, fitting) and the accessory’s speed and torque limits with your tool.
- Clean and degrease shanks, threads and tapers; remove dust or swarf before assembly.
- Insert the drill bit or driver bit to at least the minimum clamping length and tighten firmly; pull on the accessory to check it is locked.
- On keyed chucks, tighten from several holes and remove the key immediately.
- On quick-release couplings, verify the retention click and check by pulling gently.
- Start at low speed to check centring and absence of vibrations before applying load.
- Keep hands, clothing and hair away from rotating parts; do not wear loose gloves during operation; use eye protection and, where applicable, hearing protection.
- Stop work if you notice slippage, abnormal noises or overheating.
Storage and maintenance
- Regularly inspect jaws, threads, retaining elements and sleeves; do not use the accessory if there are cracks, significant wear or play.
- Check that there is no excessive run-out or binding when opening or closing; replace if the grip fails.
- Clean after each use and apply a light film of oil to the moving mechanisms; avoid aggressive solvents.
- Protect threads and tapers with caps or guards; store in a case or in a place that prevents impacts.
- Keep in a dry, ventilated area; avoid moisture and corrosive agents.
- If an accessory becomes jammed, do not strike it: allow it to cool and loosen it with the tool disconnected.
Restrictions on use
- Do not exceed the maximum speed or torque, or use percussion or hammer modes if the accessory is not designed for it.
- Do not chain several adaptors, extensions or reducers; this increases run-out and the risk of detachment.
- Do not use chucks or couplings that are damaged, deformed or with an unsuitable key.
- Do not modify or regrind the accessory.
- Do not use the chuck or coupling to lift, suspend or secure loads.
- Do not use it to clamp workpieces on stationary machines unless it is intended for that purpose.
- Keep these products out of the reach of children; use only by persons familiar with rotary tools or under supervision.
