Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Falls due to loss of control on wet surfaces, gravel, potholes or kerbs.
  • Collisions with vehicles, pedestrians or obstacles, especially at junctions and in low-visibility areas.
  • Insufficient braking or steering deviations due to lack of adjustment or maintenance.
  • Injuries from entrapment in the chain, chainrings, sprockets or spokes, or from contact with disc brakes or hot rims after prolonged braking.
  • Punctures or blowouts due to incorrect pressure or worn tyres.
  • Instability caused by poorly secured loads, unbalanced panniers or incorrect use of child seats.
  • Impacts from opening doors of parked vehicles (risk of “dooring”).
  • Slips due to wet pedals or unsuitable footwear.

Safe use

  • Wear a well-fitted helmet; gloves and glasses can improve protection and comfort.
  • Carry out a quick check before every ride: brakes, steering, quick releases or thru-axles, tyre pressure, lights and bell.
  • Adjust saddle height and handlebar reach to maintain control; check that the seatpost and stem are secure.
  • Brake with both brakes progressively and in anticipation; increase your stopping distance in rain or on descents.
  • Keep your hands on the handlebar and avoid distractions; do not use a handheld mobile phone while riding.
  • Make yourself visible with front and rear lights in low light and with reflective elements on clothing or the bike.
  • Wear close-fitting clothing and keep laces tucked away to avoid snagging on the drivetrain or spokes.
  • Distribute the load evenly and secure it firmly; avoid overloading racks or baskets.
  • If you use clipless pedals, adjust the release tension and practise unclipping in a safe place.
  • On long descents, alternate and modulate braking to avoid overheating; do not touch discs or rims after heavy braking.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the bicycle in a dry, ventilated place; dry and clean it after rain or mud to prevent corrosion.
  • Keep the chain and drivetrain clean and lubricated; remove dirt from rims or discs to avoid reducing braking performance.
  • Periodically check the wear of pads, cables or hoses, as well as the condition of tyres and rims.
  • Check the tightness of key bolts (stem, handlebar, seatpost, pedals) and the correct closure of axles and seat clamp.
  • Verify that the wheels spin without play or deformation; if you notice knocks or a wobble, check the spokes and rim.
  • Avoid washing with high-pressure jets on bearings, drivetrain or suspension.
  • Replace immediately any components that are cracked, bent or show cracks.
  • Keep reflectors and lights clean and operational; replace batteries or recharge when necessary.

Restrictions of use

  • Use the bicycle according to the intended use (urban, road, mountain, BMX, etc.); avoid jumps, tricks or descents if the model is not designed for them.
  • Do not carry more people than intended; child seats and trailers must be compatible and installed according to their instructions.
  • Do not tow loads or add accessories that compromise steering, balance or braking.
  • Do not ride if you detect looseness, cracks, unusual noises or ineffective brakes until resolved.
  • Avoid riding at night or in fog without lights on and sufficient reflective elements.
  • Do not use the bicycle under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicines that reduce your reflexes.
  • Children must use a bicycle of the appropriate size and, where applicable, under adult supervision.
  • In ice, strong winds or a thunderstorm, consider postponing the ride.
