Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts and entrapment from moving parts (auger and impeller).
- Ejection of stones, ice, or objects hidden in the snow that can cause injury or damage property.
- Carbon monoxide poisoning when using combustion-engine models in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.
- Burns from contact with hot engine or exhaust surfaces on combustion-engine models.
- Electric shock risk with corded models if the cable is damaged, improperly connected, or in contact with water.
- Fire risk due to improper handling of fuel or damaged batteries.
- Slips and falls on icy surfaces, slopes, or uneven terrain.
- Hearing damage from prolonged exposure to noise.
- Loss of control due to fatigue, vibration, or improper use.
Safe use
- Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions before first use and keep the manual to hand.
- Inspect the area and remove objects that could be thrown. Always direct the discharge away from people, pets, vehicles and windows.
- Keep hands and feet away from the intake chute, auger and discharge chute. To clear a blockage, switch off and use a suitable tool; never put your hands in.
- If the model allows, adjust the working height on gravel surfaces to reduce picking up stones.
- Wear footwear with good traction, gloves, eye protection and, where appropriate, hearing protection.
- Work with good lighting and at a steady pace, making successive passes without overloading the machine.
- Combustion-engine models: use only outdoors in well-ventilated areas; switch off the engine and allow it to cool before refuelling; clean up any spills.
- Corded models: use outdoor-rated extension leads, keep the cable visible and behind the path of travel, and avoid puddles or waterlogged snow.
- Battery-powered models: use the recommended batteries and chargers; do not use damaged batteries; avoid exposing the battery and charger to water.
- When you stop or move away from the machine, switch it off and, if fitted, remove the key or engage the lock.
Storage and maintenance
- Before cleaning, adjusting or servicing, disconnect the power (switch off the engine, unplug, or remove the battery) and wait for moving parts to stop.
- Periodically check fasteners, guards, belts and wear parts. Do not use the equipment if you notice damage, leaks or damaged cables.
- Keep ducts and chutes clear of compacted snow and ice. Dry the machine after use to reduce corrosion.
- Store the snow blower in a dry, stable place and out of reach of children. Avoid areas with sources of heat or sparks.
- Fuel: store it in suitable containers, well sealed and away from flames; manage the fuel before long periods of non-use as instructed by the manufacturer.
- Batteries: store them in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and metallic objects; charge only in dry areas.
- Corded models: check the condition of the cable and plug before each season; avoid very tight coiling that could damage it.
Usage restrictions
- For use only by adults familiar with operation. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Do not use the equipment under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you are exhausted.
- Do not direct the snow discharge towards people, animals, roads with traffic or fragile surfaces.
- Do not use combustion-engine models indoors, in garages or in semi-enclosed spaces, even if the doors are open.
- Avoid excessively steep slopes or polished ice without adequate traction; proceed with firm, controlled steps.
- Do not remove guards or defeat safety devices.
- Do not lift or transport the machine with the engine running, nor leave it running unattended.
- Do not use the snow blower for materials other than snow or to remove stones or debris.
