Usage Warnings

Outdoor Furniture Cushions

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Fire or burn risk if brought near embers, cigarettes, candles, stoves or barbecues.
  • Mould growth, unpleasant odours and fabric deterioration due to accumulated moisture or insufficient drying.
  • Trips or falls if cushions move into walkways or pile up on the floor.
  • Fading and fabric weakening due to strong, prolonged sun exposure.
  • Damage or injury if wind tears them from furniture and blows them away.
  • Possible pinches or scratches from zips and fittings; risk of clothing or jewellery snagging.
  • Skin irritation in individuals sensitive to certain fabrics or finishing treatments.
  • Colour transfer onto light or porous surfaces when the cushion is wet.

Safe use

  • Keep cushions away from heat sources and flames. Do not smoke on them or use them near sparks or embers.
  • Place them on stable furniture and, if they have ties or non-slip systems, use these to prevent slipping or being moved by the wind.
  • After rain or washing, press out excess water and allow to air-dry completely in a well-ventilated place before using or storing again.
  • Avoid prolonged contact while wet with floors or porous surfaces to prevent stains or marks.
  • Check seams, zips and ties regularly. If there are tears or exposed filling, do not use the cushion until it has been repaired.
  • Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap following the care label. Avoid bleach, solvents and pressure washers that could damage the fabric or seams.
  • On very windy days, remove the cushions or secure them properly so they are not blown away.
  • Supervise children when they play with cushions. Do not allow them to cover their faces with them or to jump on them on elevated surfaces.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store cushions clean and completely dry in a cool, dry and ventilated place. Avoid airtight bags if any moisture remains.
  • If using storage chests or covers, ensure they are breathable to prevent condensation.
  • Reduce direct sun exposure when not in use to prolong the life of the fabric and colours.
  • Shake frequently to remove dust and plant debris; use a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner on a low setting.
  • Treat stains as soon as possible with gentle products and test first on a discreet area.
  • Turn and plump the cushions periodically to redistribute the filling and help maintain shape.
  • If the design allows, remove covers for washing and replace them only when completely dry.
  • Do not iron or tumble-dry at high temperatures unless explicitly stated on the label.

Usage restrictions

  • Not suitable for direct contact with flames, stoves, braziers, barbecues or hot surfaces.
  • Do not use as a flotation device, protective equipment, step or base to stand on.
  • Not recommended for infants to sleep on nor for covering children's faces; keep cords and ties out of their reach.
  • Do not leave in walkways where they may cause trips; remove or reposition when not in use.
  • Do not expose to strong winds without proper securing nor leave loose on elevated terraces.
  • Do not allow use by pets that tend to chew or tear, due to the risk of ingesting the filling.
  • Do not use with harsh chemicals or solvents that could damage fabrics, fillings or accessories.
