Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Mast or bracket falling due to wind, impacts or poor installation.
  • Snagging, strangulation or tripping from ropes, guy ropes and straps.
  • Burns or fire if brought near barbecues, stoves or open flames.
  • Cuts or pinching injuries when handling fittings, metal edges, carabiners and fasteners.
  • Electrical hazard due to proximity to overhead lines or electrical equipment.
  • Injury to people, or damage to windows or vehicles, if the flag encroaches on walkways or projects outside.
  • Colour bleeding and transfer onto surfaces when wet.
  • Mould and unpleasant odours due to prolonged dampness.
  • Falls during installation at height using ladders.

Safe use

  • Install the mast or bracket on a stable, level surface with appropriate fixings; tighten screws firmly.
  • Keep a safe distance from electrical cables, flames, barbecues, heaters and branches.
  • Tension the ropes and secure any loose ends; avoid leaving them hanging or across walkways.
  • Remove or lower the flag in strong winds, storms, or when it will not be supervised.
  • Ensure the flag does not cover doors, signs, cameras or lights, and does not protrude into walkways.
  • Wear gloves when handling fittings and check for sharp edges.
  • If using a ladder, set it securely and ask for help to steady it; do not overreach.
  • Keep children and pets away during installation and hoisting.

Storage and maintenance

  • Wash and dry the flag according to the manufacturer's instructions; do not store it damp.
  • Rinse and dry after exposure to rain, mud or salt spray to reduce wear and odours.
  • Periodically inspect seams, eyelets, carabiners, ropes, cable ties and screws; replace any worn or damaged parts.
  • Check and retighten the anchors regularly; remove rust and dirt from the fittings.
  • Avoid prolonged contact of a damp flag with light-coloured surfaces to prevent colour transfer.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place, protected from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Remove the flag during periods of extreme weather or if it will not be used for an extended time.

Usage restrictions

  • Decorative product: not a toy and not safety or climbing equipment.
  • Do not use in extreme winds, storms or gales.
  • Do not allow children to handle ropes or carabiners, or to climb the mast; adult supervision required.
  • Do not use the ropes to lift loads, tow or secure other objects.
  • Do not modify the mast, pierce eyelets or improvise anchors that could weaken the structure.
  • Do not place the flag over barbecues, stoves, fireplaces or heat-emitting appliances.
  • Do not install near power lines or in areas where it could fall onto people, vehicles or furniture.
