Usage Warnings

Hose Nozzles

Safety warnings and precautions

Key risks

  • Unexpected disconnection due to pressure or a defective thread/connector, with possible hose whip.
  • Concentrated jets at close range that can damage eyes or skin.
  • Pooling and leaks leading to slips.
  • Damage to delicate plants, paintwork or furniture from an overly powerful jet.
  • Risk of electric shock if sockets, extension leads or light fittings get wet.
  • Very hot metal surfaces from sun exposure or use with hot water, with a risk of minor burns.
  • Pinched fingers when operating adjustment rings or triggers.
  • Backflow contamination if the connected nozzle is submerged in dirty water.

Safe use

  • Check that connections and seals are intact and compatible; screw on straight without forcing.
  • Hold the nozzle and open the tap slowly to prevent water hammer; bleed the air before directing the jet.
  • Do not aim at people or animals; test the spray pattern at low pressure and increase intensity gradually.
  • Keep your distance from sockets and electrical equipment; do not direct water towards them.
  • Shut off the supply and release pressure before removing the nozzle or changing accessories.
  • Avoid submerging the nozzle when connected; keep the end above the water level.
  • Do not use with very hot water, steam, compressed air or chemicals unless expressly specified by the manufacturer.
  • Select a gentle spray pattern for plants and delicate surfaces.
  • Do not leave the hose pressurised unattended or the trigger locked.

Storage and maintenance

  • Turn off the tap and release pressure after each use.
  • Drain the nozzle and protect it from frost; store it indoors in winter.
  • Store in a dry, shaded place; avoid prolonged exposure to the sun or heat sources.
  • Avoid leaving the nozzle hanging from the connector to prevent stressing the joint.
  • Rinse sand or limescale from the openings and, if fitted with a filter, clean it with water; do not use sharp objects.
  • Periodically check seals and washers; replace if there are cracks, hardening or leaks.
  • Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners; use water and mild soap.
  • After impacts or drops, inspect for cracks and replace if damaged.

Restrictions of use

  • Not a toy: keep out of the reach of children and use under adult supervision where appropriate.
  • Do not use with pressure washers or high-pressure equipment.
  • Do not connect to gas, fuel or compressed air systems.
  • Do not use for transferring drinking water unless the product specifically states this.
  • Do not modify, drill or remove flow limiters or control devices.
  • Do not use if it shows cracks, damaged threads, significant leaks or loose parts.
