Christmas Trees

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Fire caused by proximity to candles, fireplaces, stoves or heaters, radiators or faulty lights.
  • Tree tipping over due to an unstable base, accidental knocks or tugs from children and pets.
  • Cuts or punctures from internal wires, branch tips or fastening hooks.
  • Electrical risk if the tree includes lighting or fairy lights are added: damaged cables, overloaded sockets or moisture.
  • Trips caused by the stand base and poorly routed cables; water spills with natural trees.
  • Skin or respiratory reactions with natural trees (resin, pollen or mould) and possible sap stains.
  • Choking hazard from small parts detached from the stand or from decorations near the tree.
  • Falls when decorating high areas using unstable chairs or improvised surfaces.

Safe use

  • Place the tree on a firm, level surface, away from heat sources and curtains.
  • Secure the stand properly and check stability; if necessary, use appropriate anchoring systems to prevent tipping.
  • Do not use candles or flames on the tree. Keep a safe distance from fireplaces, stoves and heaters.
  • If using lights, check them before installing, unplug them before handling, and avoid overloading multi-socket adaptors or extension leads.
  • Run cables along safe routes and secure them to prevent trips. Keep connections away from water.
  • For natural trees, keep the water in the stand at an appropriate level to reduce drying out and wipe up any spills immediately.
  • Distribute the weight of decorations and place the heaviest on sturdy branches. Avoid fragile or small ornaments within reach of children and pets.
  • To decorate the top, use a stable step stool or ladder with good lighting; do not stand on unstable chairs.
  • Wear gloves if the branches are prickly or release resin, and handle metal hooks with care.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the artificial tree clean and completely dry in its box or bag, in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and moisture.
  • Do not compress the branches excessively to avoid deformation; protect tips and small parts in bags or compartments.
  • If the tree includes lighting, coil the cables without stretching them and check their condition each season before use.
  • Periodically check screws, joints and the stand; replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive products or heat sources for drying.
  • For natural trees, empty and dry the stand after use to prevent mould, and arrange disposal through local services when the tree is very dry.

Usage restrictions

  • Decorative product: not a toy and not for support, climbing or swinging.
  • Do not use the tree in areas with open flames. Outdoors, place it sheltered from the wind and secure it where appropriate.
  • Do not modify the structure or drill parts; use only accessories compatible with the model.
  • Do not hang excessively heavy objects that could bend branches or destabilise the stand.
  • Do not leave lights on unattended or overnight.
  • Keep loose parts, hooks and packaging bags out of reach of young children and pets.
  • Do not use the tree if the stand is damaged or unstable.
