Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Risk of electric shock from contact with water, use with wet hands, or damaged cables/plugs.
- Overheating and possible smoke due to blockages, dirty filters, or a full bag/bin.
- Entanglement in the motorised brush: hair, laces, curtains, or fingers.
- Trips and falls due to the cable, the hose, or when using on stairs.
- Respiratory irritation from releasing dust and allergens when emptying the bin or bag.
- Damage to the appliance and fire risk when vacuuming liquids, hot ash, or glowing objects (if the model is not suitable).
- Minor injuries from suction on sensitive skin or contact with the face.
- Battery risks (cordless models): heating, leakage, or fire if punctured or charged with unsuitable equipment.
- Damage to delicate surfaces when using inappropriate accessories or power levels.
Safe use
- Before each use, check that the cable, plug, hose, and casing show no damage.
- Connect the appliance to a mains socket in good condition and keep your hands dry.
- Keep air inlets and outlets clear; stop using it if you notice a loss of suction, a burning smell, or unusual noises.
- Empty the bin or change the bag when it nears the indicated limit; do not force it.
- Fit the filters correctly; use the appropriate power setting and accessory for each surface.
- Switch off and unplug before removing blockages, cleaning the brush, or changing accessories.
- On stairs, place the appliance on a stable surface and below you; manage the cable and hose to prevent pulling.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, and curtains away from the rotating brush.
- If you use extension leads, make sure they are fully unwound and rated for the appliance's power.
- For battery models, charge on a firm, ventilated surface, without covering the charger or the appliance.
Storage and maintenance
- Disconnect and allow the appliance to cool before any cleaning or maintenance.
- Empty the bin/bag regularly; when doing so, avoid raising dust. If you are sensitive, wear a mask and ventilate.
- Clean or replace the filters as directed by the manufacturer; do not wash them unless specified.
- Remove hair and threads from the brush with the appliance switched off; use suitable tools, not sharp objects.
- Check the hose and ducts and remove blockages carefully without piercing them.
- Inspect the cable: if you notice cuts, severe kinks, or abnormal heating, stop using the appliance.
- Wind the cable without tension or knots and avoid crushing it under furniture or doors.
- Store the vacuum cleaner in a dry, ventilated place, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
- For battery models, avoid extreme temperatures and prolonged periods of complete discharge.
- After accidentally vacuuming something damp, allow the ducts to dry and replace any filters that got wet before using it again.
Restrictions of use
- Do not vacuum liquids, foam, or moisture, unless the model is designed for it.
- Do not vacuum hot ash, embers, lit cigarette ends, or incandescent objects.
- Do not vacuum flammable or corrosive products, or near petrol or solvent vapours.
- Do not insert the nozzle into the mouth, eyes, or ears, or direct suction at the face or skin.
- Do not use the vacuum cleaner outdoors in the rain or in waterlogged areas.
- Do not use the appliance without filters or without a bag when the model requires them.
- Do not lift or pull the vacuum cleaner by the cable or the hose; use the handle.
- Do not place it on stairs or unstable surfaces from which it could fall.
- Do not vacuum large sharp fragments, glass, or screws that could puncture the bag/bin or block the system.
- Do not allow children to use the appliance unsupervised or treat it as a toy; keep pets away during use.
