Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Drowning or fatigue in the water if the board or paddle is lost.
- Leash entanglement on rocks, branches, seaweed or fishing gear, making release difficult.
- Cuts and impacts from fins, screws, fittings and hard edges.
- Overpressure when inflating that can cause sudden rupture of the board, hose or adaptor.
- Pinched fingers when installing fins, adjusting telescopic paddles or using pumps.
- Exposure to sun, cold or cold water: heatstroke, sunburn or hypothermia.
- Drifting due to wind or current, and collision with other vessels due to poor visibility or lack of signalling.
- Skin irritation from chafing caused by straps, buoyancy aids or wet materials.
Safe use
- Check before each outing the condition of the leash, fins, screws, paddle, pump, hoses, valves, straps and fastenings.
- Use an appropriate buoyancy aid and, where applicable, a whistle and high-visibility items.
- Fit and test the leash before entering the water; use a quick-release system when there is a risk of snagging or current.
- Install and secure fins and fittings following the manufacturer’s instructions; ensure no sharp parts protrude.
- Inflate only with a compatible pump and adaptor, and monitor pressure with a pressure gauge; do not use compressors that are not designed for SUP.
- Keep fingers away from hinges, clips and fin boxes/tracks during assembly; use appropriate tools without forcing.
- Carry the board and paddle carefully on windy days; do not drag by the leash or use it for lifting.
- Secure gear on the board with straps you can release quickly, without blocking movement or access to the water.
Storage and maintenance
- Rinse with fresh water after each use and dry in the shade to reduce corrosion, mould and bad odours.
- Avoid high temperatures and prolonged direct sun exposure; do not leave inflatables at maximum pressure in the heat.
- Store pumps, hoses, paddles and leashes without forced bends or knots; protect tips and fins.
- Periodically check hook-and-loop fasteners, carabiners, screws and seals; replace worn or cracked parts.
- Keep repair kits and adhesives tightly closed, in a cool, dry place; check the condition of the glue before use.
- Keep batteries and electric pumps dry, charged as instructed, and away from moisture and heat sources.
- Store equipment in a ventilated place, out of reach of children and pets.
Restrictions of use
- Not suitable for children without constant adult supervision; use appropriate sizes and fit for them.
- Do not use damaged accessories, with hook-and-loop fasteners lacking grip, frayed straps or corroded fittings.
- Do not use electric pumps in the rain, in puddles or with wet hands; do not submerge electrical components.
- Do not attach the leash to your waist or buoyancy aid unless you have a quick-release system appropriate to the environment.
- Do not fit fins or fittings that are incompatible with your board’s system.
- Do not use anchors or mooring lines in areas with current or traffic unless you have sufficient experience.
- Do not practise in strong winds, surf or currents unfavourable to your level; avoid going far without means of communication or flotation.
- Do not consume alcohol or substances that reduce attention or coordination before or during use.
