Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts and lacerations from contact with the moving line or blade.
  • Ejection of stones, glass or metal that may cause injury, especially to the eyes and face.
  • Kickback or snagging when striking hard objects, roots or fences.
  • Exposure to high noise and prolonged vibration.
  • Burns from hot surfaces on petrol models and fire risk in dry vegetation.
  • Inhalation of dust, pollen or exhaust fumes.
  • Electrical risk with corded or battery models (moisture, damaged cables, short circuits).
  • Trips or loss of balance due to cables, harnesses or uneven ground.
  • Damage to windows, vehicles or other fragile surfaces from ejected objects.

Safe use

  • Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions before first use.
  • Always wear protection: face shield or safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, sturdy footwear and long trousers; consider a helmet/full-face visor and leg protection for work in dense brush.
  • Check before starting that the guard, deflector, cutting head and blade are intact and securely fastened; replace damaged parts.
  • Adjust and use the harness or handle to maintain control and balance.
  • Inspect and clear the work area of stones, wire, bottles or other objects; keep people and animals at a safe distance.
  • Maintain a firm grip with both hands and a stable stance; do not work on ladders or unstable surfaces.
  • Avoid striking kerbs, stones or fences; work at a moderate speed without overloading the machine.
  • Switch off and wait until the tool has come to a complete stop before approaching the cutting head or making adjustments; unplug or remove the battery when not in use.
  • Corded models: use outdoor-rated extension leads and keep them behind you at all times; do not use the tool in rain or on waterlogged grass.
  • Battery models: use only the compatible charger; do not expose the battery to impacts, heat or moisture; stop using it if the battery swells, smells unusual or becomes excessively hot.
  • Petrol models: refuel outdoors with the engine switched off and cool, away from flames or sparks; clean up spills immediately and start in a clear area.
  • Avoid working near flammable materials; do not remove or modify the guards.

Storage and maintenance

  • Disconnect the power or remove the battery before cleaning, changing the line or the blade, or performing any maintenance.
  • Remove grass and debris from the cutting head, vents and guard after each use.
  • Check for wear, fixings and play; replace lines, blades, guards or handles that are damaged, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Store the tool in a dry, ventilated place out of the reach of children; avoid direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Cables: coil without pinching or pulling; do not use or store equipment with damaged insulation.
  • Batteries: charge on a stable, non-flammable surface in a ventilated area; avoid unattended charging for long periods; store them away from metal objects and at a moderate temperature.
  • Petrol models: store with the tank tightly closed; for long periods without use, drain the fuel into a suitable container and ventilate the area.
  • Transport the tool with the cutting head protected and switched off; for battery models, remove the battery during transport.

Restrictions on use

  • Not suitable for children; it should only be used by an adult familiar with its use.
  • Do not use the tool if you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that reduce alertness.
  • Do not use it indoors or in poorly ventilated spaces in the case of petrol engines.
  • Do not work at night or with insufficient visibility; avoid use in strong winds, thunderstorms or heavy rain.
  • Do not use the machine to cut wood, hedges or thick branches; use the appropriate accessory only for the tasks intended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not operate near people, pets, windows, vehicles or other fragile surfaces.
  • Do not use the tool without a guard, with loose or damaged parts, or if you notice abnormal vibration or noises.
  • Avoid extreme slopes or terrain where you cannot maintain firm footing and clear escape routes.
