Dishwasher Cutlery Baskets
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts or punctures when inserting or removing cutlery, especially if tips or edges protrude through the slots.
- Steam and very hot surfaces at the end of the cycle that can cause burns.
- Pinching or entrapment when moving the lower rack or when fitting the basket.
- Jamming of the spray arms or the door if the basket is incorrectly positioned or if the cutlery protrudes too far.
- Warping or breakage of the basket due to impacts, overloading, or inappropriate use of harsh detergents.
- Standing water and residues that may cause bad odours or mould.
Safe use
- Check that the basket fits your dishwasher correctly and sits securely to prevent movement during washing.
- Place knives and sharp utensils with the tip or edge facing downwards and avoid them protruding through the slots.
- Do not overload the basket; distribute the cutlery evenly so that water can circulate and the spray arms are not blocked.
- Before starting the cycle, manually rotate the spray arms to ensure they do not hit the basket or the cutlery.
- Open the door with care at the end of the programme and allow a few minutes to cool before handling the basket.
- Use lids or dividers only if they fit without forcing and to secure small items such as teaspoons.
- Avoid placing items that are not dishwasher-safe or that are too long and heavy and could destabilise the basket.
Storage and maintenance
- Remove food residues after each use and clean the basket periodically with warm water and a mild detergent.
- Avoid abrasive scourers and harsh products such as solvents or concentrated bleach that could damage the surface.
- Dry the basket thoroughly after cleaning to prevent persistent moisture, bad odours or mould.
- Frequently check for cracks, warping, loose hinges or sharp edges; replace the basket if you detect any damage.
- If storing it outside the dishwasher, keep it in a dry, ventilated place, away from heat sources or prolonged direct sunlight.
- Only detach moving parts if they are designed for it, and refit them correctly before use.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use the basket to cook, heat or store food outside the dishwasher.
- Do not force its installation on incompatible models or modify it by cutting or drilling parts.
- Do not use the basket if it is cracked, warped or has loose components.
- Do not load extremely long or heavy knives that could protrude through the slots or block mechanisms.
- Keep the basket and cutlery out of the reach of children and do not allow children to play with them.
- Loading and unloading sharp utensils must be carried out under adult supervision.
