Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Entrapment and cuts when handling axles, brackets and fixings.
- Equipment or load falling during replacement if not properly secured.
- Detachment or breakage of the wheel due to overloading or improper installation.
- Tipping and instability of the trolley or machine when using incompatible wheels or wheels of different heights.
- Unexpected rolling of the equipment while working on it.
- Loss of control due to locking, seizure or flat spots on the wheel.
- Ejection of parts when removing pins, clips or corroded screws.
Safe use
- Check compatibility before installation (dimensions, type of fixing and the rated load capacity for the wheel and for the assembly).
- Work on a flat surface; unload the equipment, apply wheel brakes and use chocks if necessary.
- Wear gloves and eye protection; keep fingers away from pinch points while engaging onto the axle or bracket.
- Lift the equipment with suitable, stable means; do not support the weight by hand or with improvised tools.
- Fit the wheel with the appropriate fixings and tighten firmly and evenly; check that there is no play.
- Ensure all wheels are at the same level and rotate freely without rubbing; perform a no-load test before loading.
- Do not exceed the load capacity of the assembly; distribute the weight and avoid impacts against kerbs, gaps or obstacles.
- After initial use, check for any loosening or abnormal noises and readjust if necessary.
Storage and maintenance
- Store the wheels in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct heat, strong sunlight, oils or solvents that could degrade them.
- Avoid stacking them under weight that could deform them; store them so the treads are not crushed or deformed.
- Periodically clean dirt, chips and debris that may become embedded; dry after contact with water.
- Inspect the tread, rim/bracket, axle and fixings for cracks, flat spots, uneven wear or corrosion.
- Replace immediately any wheels with cracks, deformation or stiff/seized rotation; do not attempt to straighten damaged parts.
- Lubricate the pivot points if the model requires it and remove any excess to avoid drips on the floor.
- Check and re-tighten screws, nuts, washers and safety pins periodically.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use for motorised vehicles, lifting people or as a lifting or load restraint component.
- Do not subject them to high speeds, prolonged dragging or repeated impacts for which they are not designed.
- Do not modify the wheel or its mountings (drilling, heating, cutting) or mix incompatible fixings.
- Do not use in environments with extreme temperatures or chemical exposure if the wheel is not designed for it.
- Do not move over stairs, grating gaps or very steep ramps with heavy loads without suitable auxiliary equipment.
- Keep out of the reach of children; installation and use must be carried out by adults familiar with tools.
