Key risks

• Consumption of non-potable water or water contaminated by stagnation, dirt, biofilm or algae.
• Slips and falls due to splashes, puddles or ice in winter around the fountain.
• Water initially very hot after exposure to the sun in hoses, or if the model supports mixing with hot water.
• Impacts or cuts from protruding edges, nozzles or metal parts.
• Leaks and breakages due to loose connections, worn seals or overpressure.
• Electrical hazard in models with a pump or lighting if there is moisture in sockets or damaged cables.
• Proliferation of mosquitoes and insects in stagnant water.

Safe use

• Connect to a drinking water supply when intended for drinking. After periods without use, let the water run for a few seconds before consuming it.
• Avoid direct mouth contact with the nozzle; use the upward jet, cups or bottles.
• Open the flow gradually and check the water temperature at the start, especially on hot days.
• Install the fountain or drinking fountain on a firm, level surface; secure the unit following the manufacturer's instructions.
• Keep the walkway clear and dry up puddles to reduce the risk of slipping.
• On models with electrical components, keep connections and plugs protected from splashes and disconnect before cleaning or handling.
• Do not use abrasive tools or products that could damage surfaces or parts in contact with the water.

Storage and maintenance

• Carry out periodic cleaning of nozzles, controls and surfaces with water and pH-neutral soap; rinse thoroughly.
• Remove limescale with suitable, non-aggressive descalers and avoid metal scouring pads.
• Renew the water regularly and purge the circuit if it has been inactive; discard the first few seconds of water before drinking.
• Check connections, seals, flexible hoses and fixings; replace components that show wear, cracks or corrosion.
• During periods of frost, shut off the water supply, completely drain the unit and hoses, and cover it or store it under cover.
• If the model includes filters, follow the manufacturer's instructions for their cleaning or replacement.
• Remove leaves, sediment and insects to prevent blockages and stagnant water.

Restrictions of use

• Do not use the fountain or drinking fountain for consumption if the product does not clearly state that it is suitable for drinking water.
• Do not add bleach, antifreeze, dyes or other chemicals if the water may be drunk by people or pets.
• Do not allow use by children without adult supervision; prevent climbing on, sitting on or hanging from the unit.
• Do not use the product if it shows visible damage, significant leaks, loose parts or damaged cables.
• Do not install or use on unstable surfaces, with an excessive gradient, or where water may accumulate and cause falls.
• Do not exceed the operating pressure or temperature recommended by the manufacturer.
• Do not drink if the water has an abnormal odour, taste or colour.
