Usage Warnings

Exercise Mats

Safety warnings and precautions

Key risks

  • Slips due to lack of grip if the mat, the floor or hands/feet are wet, sweaty, dusty or have creams on them.
  • Trips caused by raised edges, wrinkles or a partially rolled mat.
  • Instability and injury if the mat shifts during exercise or is used on uneven surfaces.
  • Skin irritation or unpleasant odour in people sensitive to certain materials or residual odours.
  • Deterioration due to heat, direct sunlight, moisture or contact with sharp objects, with possible shedding of particles.
  • Mould and bad odours if not properly cleaned and dried after use.
  • False sense of protection: it does not cushion falls from height or impacts from weights.

Safe use

  • Before use, check it is intact, clean and has good grip; replace it if you notice cracks, sticky patches or crumbling.
  • Unroll it fully and smooth out the corners; place it on a dry, clean, level surface.
  • Keep hands and feet dry and free of creams or oils; use a towel on top if you sweat heavily.
  • Leave clear space around you to move without catching on furniture or other objects.
  • If it shifts, change surface or use a non-slip underlay; if your model has a side with greater grip, orient it towards the floor.
  • Avoid resting or dropping weights, dumbbells or other hard objects on the mat to prevent damage or slip hazards.
  • Use it barefoot or with clean footwear without sharp edges or studs that could tear it.
  • Wipe away sweat or spills immediately to maintain grip.
  • Follow the specific instructions from your mat's manufacturer.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean regularly with a damp cloth and pH-neutral soap; rinse if necessary and allow to air-dry completely in the shade.
  • Do not use bleach, solvents or abrasive products that could damage the surface.
  • Air the mat after unpacking and after cleaning to dissipate odours.
  • Store it rolled, not tightly, and without creases; secure it with a loose strap and avoid placing weight on top.
  • Keep in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, radiators or very hot car interiors.
  • Do not put it in a washing machine or tumble dryer unless expressly stated by the manufacturer.
  • Check wear periodically and replace it if it loses grip, cracks or starts to crumble.
  • Keep it out of reach of children and pets when not in use.

Restrictions of use

  • Do not use on wet, oily, icy or very uneven surfaces.
  • Do not use as a protective mat for jumping, combat, acrobatic gymnastics or to cushion impacts from weights.
  • Do not use as a bath mat, thermal insulation or near heat sources, flames, fireplaces, stoves, barbecues or very hot surfaces.
  • Do not use with footwear with studs, heels, nails or abrasive soles that could tear it.
  • Do not allow babies or small children to use it unsupervised; it is not a mattress, cot or toy.
  • Do not use as a flotation device in water.
  • Do not hang it around your neck with the carry strap or roll it with excessive tension.
  • Avoid sharing without a towel on top during high-sweat sessions.
