Usage Warnings

Weightlifting bars

Warnings and safety precautions

Main risks

  • Finger pinching when putting on or removing plates and when moving the bar.
  • Dropping of the bar or plates due to loss of control or not using collars.
  • Tipping of the stand or the bar coming out of the rack if positioned incorrectly.
  • Injuries from overloading, poor technique or a slippery grip (sweat, creams).
  • Impacts and whip from bar rebound and oscillation during movement.
  • Deterioration (rust, seized sleeves or bending) that can cause unexpected failure or strain on wrists and elbows.
  • Striking nearby people or objects and damage to the floor.
  • Tripping over bars on the floor or stored unstably.
  • Minor abrasions or cuts from the knurling or plate edges.
  • Snagging of clothing, jewellery or hair in the rotating sleeves.

Safe use

  • Inspect before each session: straightness, condition of the knurling, sleeve rotation and absence of cracks or deep rust.
  • Observe the manufacturer's rated load limit and increase weight progressively.
  • Load and unload plates symmetrically and use compatible collars/clamps on both sides.
  • Keep the area clear; use a level floor and, if possible, a protective mat to absorb impacts.
  • Ensure the rack or stands are stable and set the safety stops at the correct height.
  • Keep hands dry; use chalk where appropriate and avoid creams that reduce grip.
  • Control the descent and avoid dropping the bar unless the equipment is designed for it and you are on a suitable platform with suitable plates.
  • When loading/unloading heavy weight, avoid doing so on one side only to prevent tipping.
  • Adopt a stable stance and wear firm-soled footwear.
  • Keep your distance from walls and people; do not step over a loaded bar.
  • For heavy or overhead lifts, use safety bars and, if possible, the assistance of an experienced spotter.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the bar unloaded on a rack designed for it, in a stable horizontal or vertical position.
  • Avoid humidity and abrupt temperature changes; wipe off sweat after each use.
  • Remove chalk and dirt with a soft brush or cloth and, if appropriate, apply a light anti-corrosion protection as directed by the manufacturer.
  • Periodically check for play, unusual noises and sleeve rotation; if you detect deformation, cracks or advanced rust, stop using it.
  • Keep collars clean and in good condition; replace any that do not clamp securely.
  • Do not store the bar resting only on its ends or under constant load that could deform it.
  • If storing it vertically, use a base that prevents slipping or falling.
  • Transport the bar with care to avoid impacts to the sleeves and ends.

Restrictions on use

  • For training use only with compatible plates; do not use it as a pull-up bar, lever, handrail, or to drag or carry objects.
  • Do not modify, drill or sand the bar or sleeves; do not apply lubricants to the grip area.
  • Do not use plates or collars that do not fit correctly, nor improvised solutions (tape, ropes).
  • Do not use it on uneven, slippery or fragile surfaces.
  • Do not continue training in the event of sharp pain, dizziness or loss of control.
  • Keep children and pets away and do not allow use without adult supervision.
  • Do not use the bar if it is bent, cracked, with seized sleeves or shows advanced corrosion.
  • Avoid loose clothing, rings and watches that could catch; tie back long hair.
