Tubular Motors
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electric shock from handling cables, splices or incorrect connections.
- Entrapment or impact due to unexpected movement of the shaft or the roller assembly during testing or adjustment of the limit switches.
- Fall of the tube, shutter or awning due to poor fixings, inadequate brackets or loose screws.
- Motor overheating due to system blockage or a load exceeding the specified rating, potentially damaging the equipment.
- Deterioration of wiring due to abrasion, pinching or moisture, with a risk of short circuit.
- Accidental activation via remote controls, timers or sensors while people or objects are within the movement area.
- Ingress of water or dust in models not designed for it, causing failures or short circuits.
Safe use
- Check the motor’s compatibility with the tube diameter, system type and intended load before installation.
- Disconnect the power supply and disable any automation before assembling, adjusting or handling the system.
- Carry out the electrical wiring according to the manufacturer’s diagram; installation must be performed by qualified personnel.
- Secure brackets, anchors and stops with fasteners suitable for the mounting material; check that there is no play.
- Set the limit switches with short, controlled movements, keeping hands and tools away from moving parts.
- Check the full travel is unobstructed and visually monitor the area each time you operate the motor.
- Keep the cable free from tension, abrasion and sharp edges; use grommets or protectors where necessary.
- Do not force the equipment or disable safety devices; if the motor overheats or stops, allow it to cool and identify the cause of the excessive load.
Storage and maintenance
- Store the motor in a dry, clean and ventilated place, protected from impacts, dust and moisture. Avoid extreme temperatures.
- Do not place weight on the motor or the tube to prevent deformation.
- Protect the ends and the cable during transport and storage to prevent damage to connectors and insulation.
- Periodically clean the area around the shaft and the brackets; remove dust and debris that could obstruct movement.
- Regularly check fixings, shaft play, abnormal noises, burning smell or unusual heating and rectify immediately.
- Disconnect the power supply before any adjustment or replacement of components of the associated system (brackets, stops, drive components).
- Do not open or modify the motor housing; replace damaged parts only with system-compatible spares.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use the motor to lift people or as a hoist or lifting device.
- Do not operate the system if there is visible damage to the cable, cracks in brackets, loose screws, abnormal noises or a burning smell.
- Do not exceed the system’s rated load or obstruct the movement of the roller assembly.
- Do not cover the motor with materials that impede heat dissipation or install it in unventilated enclosures if the model does not permit it.
- Do not use it in environments with water, rain, salt spray, dense dust or explosive atmospheres unless the model is specifically designed for it.
- Do not modify, pierce or extend the cable without appropriate technical guidance; avoid improvised extension leads.
- Keep remotes and automation devices out of the reach of children; do not allow them to play with the system controls.
- Do not combine the motor with accessories, controls or tubes that are not compatible.
