Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electric shock from contact with live parts, moisture or damaged insulation.
- Fire and overheating due to overloading or loose connections.
- Burns from surfaces that reach high temperatures.
- Sparks or arcing when connecting or disconnecting high-power equipment.
- Damage to connected equipment from voltage spikes.
- Trip hazards and accidental pulls caused by cables in walkways.
- Cable damage due to sharp bends, crushing or pinching.
- Risk to children if they insert objects into the sockets.
Safe use
- Check the total power/current draw of the appliances and stay within the manufacturer’s stated maximum rating.
- Connect only to sockets in good condition and, where applicable, with a working earth.
- Do not daisy-chain extension leads or adaptors; use a single solution with sufficient capacity.
- Keep the extension lead visible, ventilated and uncovered; do not place it under rugs or behind curtains.
- Fully unwind extension reels during use to aid heat dissipation.
- Plug in and unplug by holding the plug body; do not pull on the cable.
- Avoid contact with water or wet hands and keep devices away from heat sources and liquids.
- Before use, check the casing, cable and switches; if you notice looseness, a burning smell, sparking or discolouration, stop using it.
- Tidy cables with suitable cable guides or ties to prevent accidental pulls and trips.
- If children are present, use safety caps on unused sockets and place the extension lead out of their reach.
- For connectors that require wiring, make the connection with the power isolated and follow the manufacturer’s instructions; if you lack experience, seek help from a qualified installer.
Storage and maintenance
- Store in a dry, clean and ventilated place, away from moisture, excessive dust and heat sources.
- Coil the cable without tension or sharp bends; avoid crushing it under furniture.
- Clean only when disconnected, using a dry cloth; do not use liquids or metal objects in the sockets.
- Periodically remove dust from slots and plug pins with a dry brush.
- Regularly check the condition of the cable, plugs and sockets; if they show cracks, looseness or abnormal heating, replace the product.
- Do not open or modify the device; makeshift repairs can be dangerous.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use extension leads or adaptors with appliances that draw high continuous power (e.g., heaters, ovens, air conditioners) unless expressly indicated by the manufacturer.
- Do not use them outdoors, in bathrooms or in very humid areas unless specifically designed for such environments.
- Do not place extension leads in enclosed, unventilated spaces or cover them with textiles or furniture.
- Do not use adaptors in a chain or makeshift cable splices.
- Do not force plugs that do not match the socket type; check voltage compatibility and plug format for the country before travelling or connecting equipment.
- Do not use the product if the earth connection required by the connected equipment is not available.
- Do not use these solutions for equipment that requires uninterrupted power for safety or critical continuity.
- Supervise use when children or pets are present, or when the extension lead powers several appliances for prolonged periods.
