Dog Paddling Pools
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Drowning or aspiration in dogs and children if left unsupervised, even in shallow water.
- Slips and falls of dogs or people on wet surfaces around the pool.
- Tears, punctures or deformations causing sudden spills and potential injuries.
- Cuts or scratches from damaged edges, loose seams or abrasive surfaces.
- Skin and eye irritation from dirty water or from using unsuitable soaps and products.
- Thermal stress: water that is too cold or hot, and direct sun exposure without shade.
- Ingestion of fragments if the dog chews the edges or the drain plug.
- Claws or paw pads snagging on folds, seams or drains.
- Proliferation of mosquitoes and bacteria in stagnant water.
- Damage from leaks on indoor floors if used in areas not prepared for it.
Safe use
- Place the pool on a flat, level, clean surface, free of stones or sharp objects; use a protective base if possible.
- Fill only to a height appropriate to the dog's size; start with shallow water and increase gradually if the animal is comfortable.
- Continuously supervise the dog and children during use; do not leave them alone near water.
- Avoid high jumps and rough play; provide a non-slip entry and exit (ramp or low edge).
- Check the water temperature by hand; provide shade and frequent breaks to prevent overheating or chilling.
- Keep the surrounding area as dry as possible to reduce slipping; remove obstacles around it.
- Check the condition of seams, panels and the drain plug before each use; do not use if you detect cracks, leaks or sharp edges.
- Remove collars, harnesses or garments that could snag; keep the dog's nails trimmed to minimise punctures.
- Stop the session if the dog shows fatigue, excessive panting, coughing, shivering or stress.
- Do not move the pool when it is full; drain via the outlet, directing the water to a safe area, away from sockets and walkways.
Storage and maintenance
- Change the water frequently; preferably use clean water without additives not intended for pets.
- Rinse and dry the pool after each use to prevent mould, bad odours and material degradation.
- Do not leave standing water in the sun; empty or cover it when not in use.
- Periodically inspect edges, folds and the plug to detect leaks, open seams or rough areas; replace if damaged.
- Store the pool completely dry, folded without forcing, in a cool, shaded place, away from heat sources.
- Keep the stored pool away from rodents and sharp objects that could puncture it.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to the elements when not in use; UV rays and frost can damage the material.
- If you clean with a pet-safe product, rinse thoroughly before the next use.
Restrictions of use
- It is not a pool or a bathtub for people; do not allow children to bathe.
- Do not use as a drinking bowl nor allow the dog to drink soapy or dirty water.
- Do not add chlorine, bleach or other chemicals not specifically intended for pet products.
- Do not use on balconies, rooftops or elevated surfaces where a spill could cause damage or falls.
- Do not use near sockets, extension leads or appliances; keep electrical equipment at a distance from water.
- Do not use indoors unless the product clearly indicates it and the floor is protected against splashes and spills.
- Not suitable for dogs with open wounds, skin infections or bandages that must not get wet; for dogs with reduced mobility, constant assistance is required.
- Do not expose to extreme temperatures or use with ice or very hot water.
- Do not leave the animal unsupervised or allow it to chew the edges or the plug.
- Do not overload with additional weight (people or heavy objects) or force folds that could damage the seams.
