Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Tipping of the scratching post or excessive wobbling, especially on tall models or those with multiple platforms.
- Your cat falling from unstable, slippery or poorly secured surfaces.
- Becoming entangled in ropes or hanging toys, with possible neck or paw entrapment.
- Ingestion of fibres, cords, staples or small detached parts.
- Cuts or splinters from exposed edges, staples or screws.
- Skin or respiratory irritation caused by accumulated dust or unsuitable cleaners.
- Deterioration due to moisture, leading to mould and unpleasant odours.
- Damage to floors or walls from scuffing or the absence of non-slip protectors.
Safe use
- Assemble the scratching post following the product instructions and check that all joints are secure.
- Place it on a flat, stable surface; use non-slip pads or the supplied anchors if provided for your model.
- Position it away from stairs, balconies, open windows and walkways to prevent falls or trips.
- Leave clear space around it so your cat can climb up and down without bumping into furniture, cables or curtains.
- Periodically check and tighten the joints; stop using it if you notice wobbling, noises or looseness.
- Remove or shorten hanging toys if your cat gets caught easily; supervise play with hanging items.
- Avoid overloading platforms; adhere to the load capacity and the number of cats recommended by the manufacturer.
- Observe your cat’s first interactions and adjust the location if they do not feel secure.
- Use floor protectors if the scratching post slides or leaves marks.
Storage and maintenance
- Vacuum regularly to remove hair and dust; clean with a slightly damp cloth and pet-safe products.
- Dry thoroughly after cleaning; avoid getting sisal rope, cardboard or wood excessively wet.
- Frequently inspect sisal, cardboard and upholstery; trim loose threads and replace pieces that are very frayed or damaged.
- Check there are no protruding staples, nails or screws; fix or replace before use.
- Replace the non-slip pads when they wear out to maintain stability.
- If not in use for a while, store it in a dry, ventilated place away from moisture and direct heat.
- Dispose of the product if it shows mould, structural breakage, looseness that cannot be corrected, or a persistent bad odour.
Restrictions of use
- It is not a children’s toy; do not allow children to climb on, hang from or play on the scratching post.
- Not suitable for other pets that may damage it or injure themselves.
- Do not use outdoors unless the product expressly states it is suitable for outdoor use.
- Do not modify the structure or add heavy accessories or long cords that could cause entrapment.
- Keep the scratching post away from stoves, fireplaces, radiators or other direct heat sources.
- Avoid use by convalescent cats or those with reduced mobility on tall models; choose lower, more stable alternatives.
- Supervise its use in multi-cat households to reduce pushing or fights at height.
- Stop using it if it is damp, unstable or has loose parts.
