Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Water-electricity contact: risk of electric shock if splashes reach sockets, damaged cables or damp adaptors.
- Tipping or falling of the fountain due to unstable surfaces or impacts, with a risk of breakage and cuts from fragments.
- Water damage to floors and furniture (stains, swelling of wood) due to leaks, drips or condensation.
- Slippery floor from spills or splashes around the fountain.
- Pump running dry due to low water level, with possible overheating, noise and premature failure.
- Stagnant water that encourages unpleasant odours, biofilm and mould in the surroundings.
- Unwanted noise and vibrations if the base is not level or lacks cushioned support.
- Small decorative pieces (stones, figurines) that may pose an ingestion risk to children and pets.
Safe use
- Place the fountain on a flat, stable surface that can bear the weight and moisture; use a non-slip, waterproof base if necessary.
- Keep away from sockets, extension leads and electronic devices to avoid splashes on them.
- Route the cable so it is not taut and cannot channel water towards the socket; avoid pinches under furniture or rugs.
- Plug only into a suitable, dry socket; do not handle the plug with wet hands or use the product if you detect damage to the cable or adaptor.
- Fill with clean water to the recommended level and top up as it evaporates; do not run the pump dry.
- Wipe up any drips or splashes immediately and keep walkways clear to prevent slips.
- Disconnect from the mains before moving, refilling, emptying or cleaning the fountain.
- Avoid adding oils, salts, colourants or other additives unless permitted by the manufacturer; using distilled water may help reduce limescale.
- For heavy models, position it with two people to avoid injury and knocks.
Storage and maintenance
- Change the water regularly and gently clean the reservoir, pump and nozzles to remove biofilm and sediment; avoid abrasive products.
- Remove limescale deposits with mild solutions compatible with the material, and rinse well before using again.
- Periodically check cables, plug, seals and connections; if you observe wear, cracks or overheating, stop using the product until resolved.
- Clean the pump’s filters or inlet grilles to maintain adequate flow.
- If you are not going to use the fountain for a while, empty it, dry it completely and store it in a dry, ventilated place, protected from frost and direct sunlight.
- Protect the surface underneath with a waterproof sheet and control ambient humidity; ventilate the room if you notice condensation.
Restrictions of use
- Indoor use; do not use outdoors unless expressly stated for the product.
- Not a toy; keep the fountain and its small parts out of reach of young children and pets, and supervise when they are nearby.
- Do not use the water for drinking or as a drinking bowl; do not introduce fish or live plants unless the product is designed for it.
- Do not obstruct the water intake or cover the pump during operation.
- Do not modify the wiring or the adaptor, nor use wet or overloaded extension leads or power strips.
- Do not place the fountain on electrical appliances, delicate textiles or on narrow shelves or near edges where it could fall.
- Do not use the fountain if it shows cracks, persistent leaks, instability or abnormal noises until the issue is identified and corrected.
