Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Impact or entrapment caused by movement of the barrier arm or leaf.
  • Crushing and shearing at hinges, pivot points, guides, or between the barrier and walls/posts.
  • Vehicle or pedestrian collisions due to poor visibility, lack of signage, or unexpected manoeuvres.
  • Trips caused by bases, rails, stops or fixings within the passageway.
  • Electrical risk in motorised models due to improper connections or damaged cables.
  • Cuts from sharp edges, loose parts or rust.
  • Sudden closing or uncontrolled movement due to strong wind, ice or spring return.

Safe use

  • Read the manufacturer's instructions before assembly and commissioning.
  • Ensure the passageway is clear; do not cross or stop under the arm or in its path during opening or closing.
  • Installation and electrical connections must be carried out by qualified personnel; disconnect the power supply before any intervention.
  • Use controls, keys or access devices responsibly and keep them out of the reach of children.
  • If the barrier includes safety devices (e.g., photocells or safety edges), check periodically that they operate and stop movement when obstacles are detected.
  • Provide adequate signage on the barrier: use reflective or illuminated elements if supplied with the product to improve visibility by day and night.
  • Do not force the mechanism or block it with objects; use only the locks or locking devices provided by the manufacturer.
  • In gusty wind, ice or heavy rain, operate with caution and avoid leaving the barrier mid-travel.

Storage and maintenance

  • Before installation, store the product in a dry, ventilated place, protected from impacts and the weather.
  • Carry out regular visual inspections: check screws/bolts, anchors, play, condition of hinges/guides, and the presence of corrosion.
  • Clean the passageway and moving parts of dust, leaves, ice or mud that hinder movement.
  • Lubricate friction points only if specified by the manufacturer and with the recommended product.
  • Check and maintain in good condition the signage and any safety devices included with the product.
  • If cables, housings or motors are damaged, stop using the product until repaired; do not open electrical components without appropriate training.
  • Protect metal surfaces with preventive maintenance against corrosion, especially in coastal areas.

Restrictions of use

  • Do not allow children to operate the barrier or play near it.
  • Do not hang from, climb or place weight on the arm or leaf.
  • Do not use the barrier as an anchorage point for chains, ropes, tarpaulins or other objects.
  • Do not disable, bypass or modify safety devices, limit switches, springs or motors.
  • Do not use if visible damage, unusual noises, irregular movements or signs of loosening at the anchors are detected.
  • Do not park vehicles or remain in the barrier's path, even when it is temporarily stopped.
  • Do not exceed the operating frequency recommended by the manufacturer to avoid overheating or premature wear.
