Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Knocks and finger trapping at hinges or between the door leaf and frame, especially in gusts of wind.
  • Injuries from falling or tipping over during handling and installation due to the door’s weight and size.
  • Cuts from edges, ironmongery or breakage of integrated glazing.
  • Trips at the threshold and slips caused by ingress of water or mud.
  • Jamming caused by forcing the lock or key, with a risk of becoming locked in or out.
  • Weathering that affects closing and hampers opening in quick-exit situations.

Safe use

  • Control opening and closing on windy days; use doorstops or hold-open devices to prevent slamming.
  • Keep hands and objects away from the hinge area and the closing edge.
  • Operate handles and locks gently, without excessive force; if there is resistance, check the alignment before forcing.
  • Do not hang weight from handles, peepholes or hinges, and do not stand on the door leaf.
  • If the door includes glass, avoid direct impacts and do not rest hard objects on it.
  • Keep the passageway clear and well lit; hold the door when moving bulky items so it does not strike people or walls.
  • Supervise children and pets near the door; consider finger guards where appropriate.
  • Ensure you can open quickly from the inside in an emergency.

Storage and maintenance

  • Before installation, store the door in a dry, ventilated place, protected from sun and rain; preferably upright, on protected edges and a flat surface.
  • Keep the packaging until installation to avoid knocks and scratches; handle with two people.
  • Clean periodically with a soft cloth and neutral cleaner; avoid abrasives, solvents and high-pressure equipment on seals and ironmongery.
  • Check and re-tighten hinge and ironmongery screws; lubricate moving parts and the lock cylinder with suitable products, and check that the closing action is smooth.
  • Inspect weatherstrips, sealant joints and the threshold; remove grit and dirt to avoid damaging the finish or hindering closing.
  • After heavy rain, snow or in saline environments, clean and dry; remove ice with specific products, without applying direct heat.
  • On timber doors, maintain the protective finish according to the manufacturer’s recommendations; on metal or aluminium, watch for signs of corrosion and act promptly.

Restrictions of use

  • Carry out installation with two people and, if you lack experience, engage qualified personnel.
  • Do not modify the leaf, frame or ironmongery (cutting, planing, drilling critical areas), nor substitute components with incompatible ones.
  • Do not block the door with wedges or objects; avoid locking it with a key if there are people inside who cannot open it quickly.
  • Do not use the door in extremely humid, saline or aggressive chemical environments without specific protection indicated by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use it to hang planters, bicycles or other loads; install suitable doorstops to prevent impacts against walls or glazed side panels.
  • Do not use it as a fire door or as a designated emergency exit unless the product clearly indicates this.
