Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts, lacerations and punctures from the blade edge and tips.
  • Pinch points at the pivot or when closing the blades.
  • Ejection of fragments when cutting cable ties, hard plastics or other materials that may fly off.
  • Slips when cutting slippery or adhesive-coated surfaces, with possible loss of control.
  • Hand and wrist fatigue or strain from prolonged use or excessive force.
  • Electrical hazard if cutting live cables or near power sources.
  • Damage and injuries from carrying or storing with the blades open.

Safe use

  • Inspect before use: blades clean, free of nicks and play; smooth opening and closing.
  • Choose the appropriate size and type for the material; do not force cuts the tool is not designed for.
  • Keep fingers and your other hand out of the cutting line; cut away from your body.
  • Hold the material securely; avoid cutting in the air.
  • When cutting cable ties or other items that may spring off, hold the end and direct the cut away from you and others.
  • Do not use the scissors as a lever, screwdriver, knife, wire stripper or wire cutters.
  • Do not walk or run with the scissors in your hand; when passing them, hand them over closed and by the handles.
  • Wear cut-resistant gloves and eye protection when the material requires it.
  • Keep the work area clear and well-lit to avoid trips or distractions.

Storage and maintenance

  • Keep the scissors closed and, if they have a lock or sheath, use it when not in use.
  • Store them in a case or dedicated compartment, out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Clean and dry them after use to remove dust, adhesives and moisture.
  • Lightly lubricate the pivot if recommended by the manufacturer and wipe off any excess.
  • Sharpen or replace the blades following the manufacturer’s instructions; stop using them if the blades are misaligned or heavily nicked.
  • Check and carefully tighten the joint screw if play develops.
  • Avoid impacts and drops; do not store with weight on the blades.

Restrictions on use

  • Not suitable for children without adult supervision.
  • Do not cut cables or materials connected to the mains or near electrical sources.
  • Do not use on materials that are too hard or too thick and require specific tools.
  • Do not use if damaged or modified, and do not remove end stops, springs or integrated guards.
