Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Falls and injuries when working at height on ladders during installation.
  • Cuts from a craft knife or scissors and possible injuries when handling sharp tools.
  • Skin, eye or respiratory irritation from contact with adhesives/pastes or from dust when preparing or removing the previous wallcovering.
  • Electrical risk when cutting or pasting near sockets and switches if moisture gets into the fittings.
  • Detachment or peeling if the surface is not dry, clean and stable; in damp rooms, mould may develop behind the paper.
  • Heat or flame damage if the paper is placed too close to heat sources.
  • Children or pets may pull off fragments; risk of ingestion of small parts.

Safe use

  • Check that the wallpaper and paste are suitable for the room (humidity, splashes, temperature) and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Prepare the wall: clean, dry, smooth and free of dust, grease and mould. Repair any cracks or flaking before hanging the paper.
  • Ventilate the room well during application and drying. Avoid flames and sparks while handling adhesives.
  • Switch off the power to the circuit before working around sockets and switches, and prevent paste or water from entering the fittings.
  • Use a stable ladder on a level surface; do not overreach. For long or heavy drops, work with assistance.
  • Protect hands and eyes when cutting or scraping; if there is dust or vapours, use an appropriate mask and maintain ventilation.
  • Cut with a sharp blade, keeping the edge away from your body, and keep tools out of reach of children and pets.
  • Wipe away excess paste immediately with a slightly damp cloth and then dry any nearby electrical surfaces.
  • Test a small area to check adhesion and resistance to cleaning before continuing.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the rolls in their original packaging, in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Avoid crushing or bending the rolls; store them so that the edges are not deformed.
  • Keep pastes/adhesives tightly closed and upright to avoid spills. Keep everything out of reach of children and pets.
  • For routine cleaning, use a soft, slightly damp cloth as per the product instructions; avoid scouring pads, abrasive products or solvents.
  • Watch for bubbles, damp patches or mould. If detected, improve ventilation and address the cause of the moisture first before repairing or replacing the paper.
  • Do not use direct steam cleaners on the paper unless expressly stated by the manufacturer.

Restrictions of use

  • Not suitable for outdoors or for surfaces exposed to continuous direct water (inside showers, bathtubs) or intense direct heat (unshielded fireplaces, stoves, hobs).
  • Do not apply over damp walls, active mould, loose dust, fresh uncured paint or unstable surfaces.
  • Do not cover vents, detectors, electrical panels or other safety devices.
  • Do not use the paper as a moisture barrier or as thermal or acoustic insulation.
  • During installation and drying, keep children and pets away and promptly remove offcuts, plastics and blades.
  • If you are sensitive to adhesives or odours, avoid direct contact with the paste and ensure maximum ventilation while working.
