Safety warnings and precautions
Main hazards
- Accidental high-pressure injection of paint or air into the skin, and jet injuries.
- Flying particles, mist and splashes that can damage eyes and skin.
- Inhalation of vapours and aerosols from paints, varnishes or cleaners that may cause irritation, dizziness or sensitisation.
- Fire or explosion due to use of flammable solvents and build-up of static electricity.
- Risk of electric shock with electrical equipment, especially in damp environments or with damaged cables.
- Hearing damage from prolonged exposure to compressor and spraying noise.
- Hose whip or sudden disconnections, and trips caused by cables or hoses on the floor.
- Damage to nearby surfaces and contamination from overspray and spills.
Safe use
- Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions for the equipment and the product to be applied (paint, varnish, cleaner).
- Use appropriate personal protection: sealed goggles or a face shield, chemical-resistant gloves and a mask/respirator suitable for the sprayed material; add hearing protection where appropriate.
- Work in well-ventilated areas; preferably outdoors or with vapour extraction.
- Never point the nozzle at people or at your body; do not attempt to clear blockages with your fingers.
- Before changing nozzles, cleaning or clearing blockages, disconnect from the mains or air supply and relieve system pressure.
- Check that hoses, fittings and nozzles are securely fastened and leak-free before starting.
- Keep flames, sparks and heat sources away; do not smoke during use.
- Use only paints, solvents and cleaners compatible with the equipment; avoid corrosive products or those not recommended by the manufacturer.
- For electrical equipment, keep the cable away from moisture, sharp edges and hot surfaces; unplug by pulling the plug, not the cable.
- When applying flammable products, reduce electrostatic build-up by following the manufacturer's guidance (for example, earthing the equipment or containers where applicable).
Storage and maintenance
- Clean the equipment after each use in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and using the recommended cleaning agent.
- Depressurise, unplug the equipment and close valves before storage or maintenance.
- Store in a dry, ventilated place away from heat or ignition sources; keep paints and solvents in their containers tightly closed.
- Frequently check nozzles, filters, seals, cables and hoses; replace damaged or worn parts. Do not modify the equipment.
- Protect the unit from dust and moisture; allow parts to dry completely before storage.
- Dispose of soaked rags and waste in appropriate, fire-resistant containers; do not pour residues down the drain.
Restrictions on use
- For use only by adults familiar with its operation; keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not use in enclosed spaces without adequate ventilation or near flames, sparks or appliances that could ignite vapours.
- Do not direct compressed air at skin, eyes, clothing or at people or animals; do not use it for body cleaning.
- Do not exceed the equipment's rated pressure or alter nozzles, valves or regulators.
- Do not use incompatible, highly toxic or unknown materials without the specific protections indicated by the manufacturer of the product being applied.
- Do not use the equipment if it is damaged or if you notice strong odours, dizziness or irritation; stop work and ventilate before continuing.
- Do not operate in potentially explosive atmospheres unless the equipment is specifically designed for it.
