Usage Warnings
Pressure Gauges
Safety warnings and precautions
Main hazards
- Sudden discharge of air or fluids (oil, coolant, fuel) when disconnecting with residual pressure.
- Burns from contact with engine components or high-temperature fluids.
- Eye injuries from splashes or particles during connection or purging.
- Hose or adaptor whip when pressure is released abruptly.
- Fire risk from flammable vapours in the presence of sparks or flames.
- Vehicle damage due to incorrect connection or exceeding the recommended pressure.
- Shattering of the gauge if its measuring range is exceeded, with possible ejection of fragments.
Safe use
- Before use, check the condition of the instrument: housing, lens, hoses, seals and threads. Select a measuring range appropriate to the system.
- Wherever possible, work with the engine off and cool, and keep hands, clothing and tools away from moving parts.
- Wear eye protection and fluid-resistant gloves. Keep your face away from the connection point.
- Make a secure connection using the correct adaptor. Do not force threads or twist the hose during measurement.
- Purge pressure from the circuit and from the gauge itself before disconnecting to prevent sudden releases.
- For tyres, measure when cold and do not exceed the pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Work in well-ventilated areas; avoid sparks or flames near fuel systems. Avoid contact of coolants with skin and eyes and do not inhale vapours.
- Hold the gauge by its body, not by the hose, and maintain a stable stance when connecting or disconnecting.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean after each use with a soft cloth; avoid aggressive solvents that may damage seals or the lens.
- Store the gauge dry, protected from dust, moisture and impacts, preferably in its case.
- Avoid extreme temperatures and prolonged exposure to sunlight that may affect seals and accuracy.
- Periodically check hoses, seals and valves. Replace any part that is cracked, stiff or leaking.
- Do not disassemble or modify the instrument. If it suffers a drop or impact, check its operation before reusing it.
- Ensure you purge and drain any residual fluid after use to prevent corrosion and erroneous readings.
- Consider periodic verification or calibration when accuracy is critical.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use the gauge beyond its range or as a permanent component of the system.
- Do not use it with corrosive or flammable fluids unless it is specifically designed for that.
- Do not use it as an inflation tool unless the product explicitly allows it.
- Keep the product out of reach of children. It is not a toy.
- Work on air-conditioning, fuel or high-pressure circuits must be carried out by personnel with specific training and appropriate equipment.
- Do not use the gauge if it shows visible damage, leaks, a stuck pointer or unstable readings.
- Do not improvise adaptors or sealing solutions with unsuitable materials.
