Usage Warnings

Swimming Pool Liners and Cladding

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Slips and falls on smooth, wet liner surfaces.
  • Trips or entrapment of feet and hands due to folds, air pockets or loose areas.
  • Cuts and punctures when handling tools, fixing profiles or damaged liner edges.
  • Skin and eye irritation from contact with pool chemicals or concentrated cleaners.
  • Inhalation of vapours and fire risk when using adhesives, solvents or primers.
  • Damage to the liner from heavy or sharp objects, which may cause tears and leaks.
  • Dangerous suction hazard if the liner partially or fully covers drains or grates.

Safe use

  • Inspect and clean the pool shell before installation: remove sharp edges, stones and sharp objects.
  • Handle rolls and large pieces with two people; do not drag the material to prevent tearing and falls.
  • Lay the liner without visible wrinkles and check it is correctly positioned before allowing swimming.
  • Ensure skimmers, inlets and drains are clear and their covers are securely fixed; do not start the pump until this has been checked.
  • Apply adhesives and cleaners in well-ventilated areas, away from flames or sparks; use appropriate gloves, goggles and a mask.
  • Avoid direct contact between disinfectant tablets or granules and the liner; pre-dissolve them or use dispensers.
  • Use cutting tools with care and keep hands away from profiles and edges.
  • Do not jump or run inside the pool and avoid dragging ladders, hard toys or furniture across the liner.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store liners and repair kits in a dry, ventilated and shaded place; keep adhesives and solvents tightly closed and away from heat sources.
  • Do not stack heavy objects on top of the material to avoid deformation.
  • Before each season, inspect for folds, bubbles, loose areas, cuts or wear; repair as per the instructions and do not use the pool if any areas are coming loose.
  • Keep the water chemistry within the ranges recommended by the liner manufacturer and check the levels regularly.
  • Clean with soft cloths or brushes; avoid abrasive products, solvents and metal utensils that could scratch or degrade the material.
  • During periods of inactivity, cover the pool and remove leaves or objects that could stain or damage the liner; protect against frost where applicable.
  • Avoid prolonged full draining; if necessary, follow the manufacturer's guidelines to prevent liner movement or shrinkage.
  • Keep adhesives, primers and patches out of reach of children and pets.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not use the liner as a surface for jumping or diving; impact can cause injury and damage.
  • Do not allow pets with sharp claws, or the use of sharp objects, on the liner.
  • Do not apply direct heat, hot-air guns or flames to the material.
  • Do not add concentrated chemicals directly against the walls or floor; avoid mixing incompatible products.
  • Do not use the pool if the liner is loose or damaged, or if drain covers or grates are missing.
  • Do not start filtration equipment if the liner obstructs water inlets or outlets.
  • Always keep children under supervision in the pool area and during installation.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding the liner's compatibility with salt chlorinators, ozone or other water treatments.
