Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Overheating in hot climates or during exercise if the garment is thick or not very breathable.
- Irritation, chafing or hair loss on the neck, armpits and groin due to incorrect sizing or rough seams.
- Choking or accidental ingestion of detached decorations, buttons, zips or Velcro.
- Entrapment or dangerous snagging from drawstrings, hoods or loose parts on branches, railings or furniture.
- Restricted movement that can cause trips, falls or difficulty going up/down stairs.
- Difficulty urinating or defecating if the garment covers the genital or anal area too much.
- Chilling if the garment remains damp or wet in cold conditions.
- Risk of burns if the garment is near open flames, heaters or barbecues.
Safe use
- Choose the size by measuring neck, chest and length; the garment should allow you to slide two fingers between the fabric and the skin without constricting.
- Start with short periods and watch for signs of discomfort: excessive panting, stiffness, persistent licking or scratching.
- Ensure it does not cover the genital/anal area and that the dog can move, sit and lie down without restriction.
- Check that fastenings, Velcro and zips do not catch the fur or skin; avoid long drawstrings or dangling parts.
- Remove the garment if it is wet and dry it completely before using it again.
- On hot days or during vigorous activity, limit wear time and provide water and shade; remove the garment if overheating occurs.
- Supervise the dog when wearing clothing, especially garments with hoods, costumes or embellishments.
- Keep the dog away from flames and heat sources while wearing the garment.
- If redness, unpleasant odour on the skin or bald patches appear, discontinue use and allow the skin to recover.
Storage and maintenance
- Wash the garment according to the manufacturer's instructions with a mild detergent and rinse thoroughly to avoid irritating residues.
- Air-dry until it is completely dry; avoid direct heat from radiators or tumble dryers on a high setting.
- Before each use, check seams, fastenings and decorations; repair or dispose of the garment if there are loose parts or signs of wear.
- Remove hair and dirt after each walk to maintain hygiene and prevent bad odours.
- Store in a dry, ventilated place, away from moisture and prolonged direct sunlight.
- Keep garments out of reach of the dog and other animals to prevent chewing and accidental ingestion.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use in water or for swimming; remove the garment before bathing or water play.
- Do not leave the dog alone for prolonged periods with the garment on.
- Avoid use during strenuous exercise or in high temperatures; take special care with brachycephalic breeds and dogs with respiratory problems.
- Do not use over wounds, active dermatitis or dressings without ensuring the area remains uncovered and ventilated.
- Do not use the clothing as a means of restraint or safety; it does not replace a harness, collar or life jacket.
- Do not use if the size is not suitable or if it limits mobility, peripheral vision (hoods), or access to the lead/harness and identification.
