Warnings and safety precautions
Main risks
- Choking or strangulation if the film covers the face or neck, or entanglement when handling long lengths.
- Cuts and punctures when using cutters or dispensers with blades to cut the film.
- Slips and falls due to film offcuts on the floor.
- Fire hazard, warping of the material, and irritating fumes if exposed to flames, sparks, or high heat.
- Possible marks, residue, or lifting of finishes on delicate surfaces when removing the film.
- Movement of objects if relying solely on the film to secure heavy loads; possible moisture build-up or lack of ventilation in wrapped items.
Safe use
- Unroll and cut the film in a controlled manner, using tools in good condition and, where appropriate, protective gloves. Always cut away from your body and hands.
- Keep the work area clear and remove offcuts or scraps immediately to prevent trips or slips.
- Do not cover airways or wrap body parts. Keep the film away from the neck.
- Apply the film with moderate tension, making regular overlaps for an even hold without distorting the parts.
- Allow tools or objects to cool before wrapping them, and keep the film away from heat sources, sparks, or flames.
- If the product is intended for heat-shrinking, follow the manufacturer’s instructions and take extra care when applying heat.
- Check the stability of the wrapped unit; for heavy loads use additional securing methods where necessary.
- On delicate or freshly painted surfaces, carry out a preliminary test in a discreet area to verify it does not leave residue or damage the finish.
Storage and maintenance
- Store rolls in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Keep rolls in a stable position to avoid core deformation and edge damage.
- Keep the product protected from dust, moisture and sharp objects that could puncture it.
- Periodically check the condition of the roll; do not use film that is torn, has dirt stuck to it, or is damp.
- Keep dispensers and cutting tools clean and in good condition; replace blades carefully and store them with the safety lock engaged.
- Manage offcuts and used film appropriately: collect and dispose of them without creating loops. Recycle where possible in accordance with local guidance.
Restrictions on use
- Not a toy; keep out of the reach of children and pets.
- Do not use the film for lifting, structural tie-down, or as personal safety equipment.
- Do not use in contact with food unless explicitly stated by the product.
- Do not wrap switched-on electrical or electronic equipment, nor cover vents or ventilation openings.
- Do not apply heat or flames to the film, except on products specifically designed for this purpose.
- Avoid use on freshly painted, varnished, or very sensitive surfaces without prior testing.
- In walkways, do not leave loose lengths on the floor or poorly secured bundles that could cause trips.
