Usage Warnings

Mattress Toppers

Safety warnings and precautions

Key risks

  • Movement of the mattress topper during use that may cause falls when getting in or out of bed.
  • Gaps or overlaps between the mattress and the mattress topper that may cause entrapment, especially for children.
  • Overheating and perspiration in heat-retaining materials, uncomfortable for people sensitive to temperature.
  • Skin or respiratory irritation due to allergies to materials (e.g., latex) or from accumulated dust and mites.
  • Initial odours after unpacking that may be bothersome in poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Fire risk if exposed to cigarettes, candles, heaters or other sources of heat.
  • Cuts when opening the compressed packaging and sudden expansion that may startle children or pets.
  • Strain or pulling when handling bulky pieces that may cause discomfort to the back or hands.
  • Moisture retained from spills or condensation that promotes mould and unpleasant odours.

Safe use

  • Check that the size matches the mattress and does not overhang the edges.
  • Secure the mattress topper with straps, a fitted cover or a non-slip base if available to prevent movement.
  • Air the product after unpacking in a well-ventilated room before first use.
  • Place the correct side up as indicated by the manufacturer and check that there are no gaps at the headboard, sides or foot of the bed.
  • Use a fitted sheet or breathable protector to reduce the build-up of sweat, dust and mites.
  • Avoid contact with flames, cigarettes, candles or devices that emit direct heat.
  • If using an electric blanket or bed heating, confirm compatibility and use low settings to avoid overheating.
  • Handle and reposition the mattress topper with both hands; if it is bulky or heavy, ask for help to move it without pulling on the corners.
  • If you experience discomfort, excessive heat, irritation or a persistent odour, air it, clean the cover and stop use if symptoms persist.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean according to the manufacturer's instructions; spot clean with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent.
  • Allow to dry completely before reuse to prevent moisture build-up.
  • Air the mattress topper regularly and, where applicable, rotate it to distribute wear.
  • Use a breathable, washable protector; wash the covers at the recommended temperature.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources; avoid damp basements.
  • Roll for storage if possible and do not compress it permanently or place weights on top for long periods.
  • Do not sharply fold foam or pull on seams or straps; check periodically for tears, deformation or smell of mould.
  • Remove and air after spills; do not cover with waterproof plastics that block airflow while it dries.

Usage restrictions

  • Do not use mattress toppers in cots, children's beds or bunk beds with guard rails unless the product explicitly states compatibility.
  • Keep bags and packaging plastics, as well as the product while it is expanding, out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Do not use the mattress topper outdoors or in very humid environments.
  • Avoid use if there is visible moisture, mould or a strong chemical odour that does not dissipate after airing.
  • People with a known allergy to specific materials (e.g., latex) should avoid models that contain them.
  • On adjustable beds or systems with integrated heating, use only compatible models as indicated by the manufacturer.
  • Do not jump or stand on the mattress topper or use it as a floor mat.
  • The mattress topper is not intended to treat health conditions or replace a mattress in poor condition.
