Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Detachment of the canopy due to inadequate fixings, with risk of parts or the hoop falling.
- Strangulation or suffocation from cords, ribbons or the fabric itself around the neck or face, especially in babies and young children.
- Fire or fabric deformation due to proximity to candles, heaters, radiators or high-temperature bulbs.
- Snagging on ceiling fans, pendant lights or other moving items.
- Tripping by stepping on the fabric if it drags along the floor.
- Skin or respiratory irritation due to accumulated dust, loose fibres or, if applicable, repellent treatments.
- Risk of entanglement for pets.
Safe use
- Read the manufacturer’s instructions and use fixings suitable for the ceiling or wall type; check the attachment with a gentle pull before first use.
- Keep the fabric taut or gathered so it does not cover the face while sleeping and always leave an easy, visible exit opening.
- Position the canopy at a safe distance from heat sources and any open flame; do not use candles beneath the canopy.
- Install out of reach of ceiling fans and hanging light fittings.
- Do not hang objects from the hoop, and do not use the canopy for climbing or play.
- Periodically check hoops, hooks, seams and cords; replace any damaged part immediately.
- On bunk beds, avoid installing on the top bunk if it reduces headroom or could cause entrapment.
- If the product is treated with repellent or insecticide, air it before first use and avoid prolonged contact with babies’ skin and mucous membranes; follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.
Storage and maintenance
- Wash and dry the canopy according to the care label; avoid harsh bleaches that could damage the fabric.
- Remove dust and lint with gentle shaking or light vacuuming to keep the mesh clear.
- Dry completely before storing to prevent mould and odours.
- Store in a dry, ventilated place, protected from humidity and prolonged direct sunlight.
- Inspect and tighten the fixings periodically; replace wall plugs or screws if they show any looseness or rust.
- If the canopy has a repellent treatment, store it separately from children’s bedding and food, in its closed cover.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use in cots or children’s beds unless the product expressly states this and it can be secured out of the child’s reach, with no loose ties or cords.
- Do not use the canopy in rooms with an open flame or in close proximity to heating appliances.
- Do not use it outdoors unless the manufacturer specifies it is suitable for outdoor use.
- Do not use the product if it shows significant tears, visible mould or loose fixings.
- Supervise its use when there are babies, young children or pets in the room.
- If there are people with reduced mobility or severe drowsiness, avoid highly enclosing designs and ensure a clear entry and exit.
- Do not modify the structure, lengthen cords, or replace parts with others not recommended by the manufacturer.
