Usage Warnings

Bike Storage and Parking Racks

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Bicycle falls due to insufficient securing or exceeding the load capacity of the stand or bike rack.
  • Detachment of wall/ceiling anchors or tipping of floor stands, with a risk of impacts and damage.
  • Pinching of fingers and hands when closing clamps, rails and adjustment mechanisms.
  • Damage to the vehicle or to third parties when driving with a bike rack due to loss of load, reduced visibility or interference with lights and number plate.
  • Bumping into protruding parts of the stand in walkways and snagging on clothing or backpacks.
  • Degradation of straps, webbing and plastic parts from sun, rain or salt, which can reduce their strength.
  • Risk of impact with obstacles when carrying bicycles on the roof (garages, toll booths, barriers) and exposure to vehicle heat sources with rear-mounted bike racks.

Safe use

  • Check the system is compatible with your bicycle (total weight, geometry and tyre width). E-bikes typically require a higher load capacity.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for assembly and installation. Use all intended attachment points; do not improvise with straps or knots.
  • Adjust and tighten fasteners, straps and knobs until the bicycle is firm, with no play, avoiding crushing frames or delicate components.
  • Before each use, check the condition of straps, buckles, rails and anchors/fixings. Replace any worn or cracked items immediately.
  • On car-mounted bike racks, distribute the weight evenly, space the bicycles to prevent rubbing and protect contact points.
  • Ensure you do not obstruct the lights or number plate, and that no moving part of the vehicle is impeded.
  • If using a roof-mounted bike rack, note the overall height and take extra care when entering garages and low-clearance areas.
  • Avoid positioning the bicycle near the exhaust or other heat sources. Check the securing after the first few kilometres and during long stops.
  • For wall/ceiling anchors, use fixings suitable for the surface material and verify their solidity before hanging the bicycle.
  • Position supports at a height that allows manoeuvring without overexertion. For heavy bicycles, ask for help to lift them safely.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store stands and bike racks in a dry, sheltered place when not in use. Removing the bike rack from the car reduces wear and fuel consumption.
  • Rinse with fresh water after exposure to mud or salt and dry metal parts thoroughly to minimise corrosion.
  • Periodically inspect fasteners, play, cracks and corrosion. Replace deteriorated straps, rubber parts and padding.
  • Lubricate moving points and latches where appropriate for the product, avoiding lubricant on friction/grip surfaces that need to hold.
  • For fixed installations, check anchor tightness after the first few weeks of use and regularly thereafter.
  • Keep the product manual accessible and store small parts and tools out of the reach of children.

Usage restrictions

  • Do not exceed the maximum load or the number of bicycles specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use the system with bicycles that are incompatible due to size, frame shape or weight, nor fit additional accessories that increase the load beyond approved limits.
  • Do not use the stand or bike rack if it shows deformation, cracks, severe rust or damaged straps.
  • Do not install anchors on weak or unsuitable surfaces (hollow walls without reinforcement, railings or lightweight furniture).
  • Do not drive with loose items, tarpaulins or ropes that could come loose in the wind. Avoid keeping the bike rack mounted when it is not transporting bicycles.
  • Do not allow children to play, hang from or tamper with catches and levers. Keep fingers away from pinch points when opening or closing.
  • Do not press cables, brake discs or fragile components with the straps or clamping arms; use the support points recommended by the product.
