Usage Warnings

Laundry Baskets

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Tripping hazards if the basket obstructs walkways or if laundry overflows.
  • Tipping or finger entrapment when handling hinged lids.
  • Back injuries from lifting or carrying baskets that are too heavy.
  • Mould, unpleasant odours and staining from leaving damp garments for prolonged periods.
  • Splinters, sharp edges or exposed wires in wicker/metal baskets or damaged parts.
  • Damage or scorching if placed near direct heat sources.
  • Risk of suffocation from packaging bags and hazards from drawcords or adjustable fastenings on inner bags for young children.

Safe use

  • Place the basket on a stable surface and ensure it does not block doors, corridors or exits.
  • Do not overload; keep contents below the rim to prevent overflow and make carrying easier.
  • To move it, hold it by the handles with both hands; do not lift it by the lid or by the woven edges.
  • Open and close the lid slowly, keeping fingers away from the hinge area.
  • Avoid leaving soaked towels or very damp garments for extended periods; air and empty it regularly.
  • If it includes an inner fabric bag, wash it periodically and fit it only when completely dry.
  • If the model has wheels, immobilise it when loading and unloading.
  • Remove and dispose of packaging bags out of the reach of children.
  • Keep the basket away from stoves, radiators, fireplaces and open flames.

Storage and maintenance

  • Keep it in a dry, ventilated place; if it gets wet, dry it completely before using it again.
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild soap if necessary; avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the materials.
  • Regularly check handles, seams, hinges and base; if they are loose, rusty or damaged, repair them or replace the product.
  • Remove splinters or sharp points; if this is not possible, stop using the basket to avoid cuts.
  • For foldable models, open and close without forcing and secure them before moving or storing.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent discolouration and brittleness of plastics or fabrics.
  • Do not stack heavy baskets on top of lightweight models to prevent deformation.

Restrictions on use

  • Not a toy: do not allow children to climb into, sit in or play inside the basket or under the lid.
  • Do not use it as a step, seat or support.
  • Do not store unprotected sharp objects, liquids, chemicals, embers or hot items in it.
  • Do not hang it or mount it at height unless it is designed for it.
  • Do not use it outdoors without shelter if the material is not intended for outdoor use.
  • In homes with young children, avoid models with long cords or heavy lids without supervision.
