Warnings and safety precautions

Main risks

  • Entrapment and crushing in the closing area, rollers, or between punch and die.
  • Cuts from sharp sheet metal edges and from contact with tooling.
  • Ejection or sudden slippage of parts if they are not properly secured or aligned.
  • Overexertion and dropping of heavy or large-format parts.
  • Unintended activation of controls (e.g. foot pedal) and unexpected start-up.
  • Noise, vibration and ejection of particles or oil splashes.
  • Electrical hazards and, where applicable, pressure hazards in hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
  • Slips due to oil spills, swarf or dirt on the floor.

Safe use

  • Before each use, verify the capacity of the equipment and tooling for the material (thickness, width and type) and do not exceed it.
  • Check the condition and secure fixing of punches, dies or rollers; do not use cracked, deformed or loose components.
  • Adjust and lock stops, guides and guards; keep hands, gloves and clothing away from pinch points.
  • Use positioning aids to handle the sheet (tongs, hooks or handled magnets) where possible; avoid holding it with your fingers near the closing area.
  • Wear appropriate PPE: safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves for handling sheet metal, safety footwear and, if noise is high, hearing protection.
  • Ensure long parts are supported with trestles or auxiliary roller stands; for heavy loads use mechanical assistance or work in pairs.
  • Keep the work area clear, stable and well lit; remove keys, tools and debris before actuating.
  • Make sure you know how to stop the equipment immediately and test the controls with no load before starting.
  • Avoid loose clothing and jewellery; tie back hair.
  • Do not measure or correct the workpiece with the machine in motion; stop completely before any adjustment.

Storage and maintenance

  • Disconnect the power supply and release stored energy (e.g. pressure) before cleaning, adjusting or changing tooling.
  • Prevent unintentional start-up during maintenance by locking out the controls or removing the foot pedal, if applicable.
  • Brush away metal swarf; avoid using high-pressure air directly on hands; clean up oil spills immediately.
  • Lubricate and re-tighten fixings according to the manufacturer's instructions; periodically inspect hoses, cables and connections.
  • Replace worn tooling; store punches, dies and accessories in protected holders to prevent damage and cuts.
  • Keep the machine level and firmly seated; check anchor bolts if fitted.
  • Guard moving parts when not in use and cover or raise the pedal to prevent accidental actuation.
  • If moving the equipment, secure components and use appropriate lifting equipment.

Restrictions of use

  • Intended for use by adults with basic knowledge of safe operation; keep children and pets out of the work area.
  • Do not operate without guards or protectors in place, nor modify or bypass them.
  • Do not use the machine when fatigued, drowsy or under the influence of alcohol or medicines that reduce alertness.
  • Do not use the machine for cutting, punching or pressing if it is not designed for such operations.
  • Do not work with materials outside specification (excessive thickness, hardness or dimensions) or with hot workpieces.
  • Do not use incompatible, makeshift or damaged tooling.
  • Do not operate on unstable surfaces or in wet or damp environments that could compromise electrical safety.
  • Do not leave the equipment running or with the foot pedal accessible when unattended.
