Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Detachment or falling due to inadequate fixings or an unsuitable wall/ceiling support.
- Lifting, tipping or breakage due to strong winds, storms, hail, or a build-up of water or snow.
- Trapping and pinching in arms, guides, hinges or crank handles during opening and closing.
- Impacts caused by sudden or unexpected movements of the opening/closing system.
- Fire risk or damage due to proximity to barbecues, heaters or other heat sources.
- Fabric degradation or corrosion of the structure that reduces mechanical strength.
- Drips or water run-off from the edge that may cause slips in the walkway.
Safe use
- Before each use, check that fixings and profiles show no looseness, cracks or rust, and that the fabric has no tears.
- Operate the awning or canopy slowly and evenly; do not force the mechanism if it jams.
- Keep hands and head away from articulated arms, guides and crank handles during operation.
- Retract or fold in moderate to strong winds, storms, hail or snow, and whenever it will not be supervised.
- Do not hang objects (flowerpots, heavy lights, heaters, signs) from the structure or use the fabric as a support.
- Keep a safe distance from barbecues, outdoor heaters and open flames.
- If the model is motorised, keep the remote control out of the reach of children, stop operation if there are obstacles and disconnect the power before cleaning or adjustments.
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to facilitate water drainage and avoid pooling on the fabric.
Storage and maintenance
- Regularly clean the fabric and structure with water and mild soap; avoid abrasives and high-pressure cleaning.
- Allow to dry completely before retracting to prevent mould and bad odours.
- Remove leaves, snow and debris accumulated on the surface and in gutters, if present.
- Periodically check and re-tighten screws and fixings; replace worn or damaged parts immediately.
- Lubricate moving parts according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In coastal or very humid areas, rinse to remove salt and check for corrosion more frequently.
- During prolonged absences or in the winter season, keep the awning retracted and, if possible, protected with a cover.
- For detachable models, store the fabric and accessories in a dry, ventilated place, protected from direct sunlight.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use the product if you notice loose fixings, deformed parts or tears in the fabric.
- Do not install or use on unstable, hollow or deteriorated surfaces that cannot support the load.
- Do not modify the structure or drill additional holes; avoid adding incompatible accessories.
- Do not allow anyone to climb, sit or hang from the arms, guides or front bar.
- Keep the area below clear during operation; in hospitality businesses, ensure that staff supervise opening and closing.
- Do not use the awning or canopy as shelter in severe weather conditions.
- Do not use flammable cleaners or heat sources to dry the fabric.
