Parasol Spare Parts and Accessories
Warnings and safety precautions
Main risks
- Tip-over or movement of the parasol due to an insufficient base, unstable fittings or gusts of wind.
- Finger pinches and cuts when handling ribs, hinges, crank handles and sharp-edged parts.
- Falling components if poorly secured (canopy fabric, finials, caps, adaptors) during use.
- Tripping over bases, ballast weights, protruding fixings, straps or covers in walkways.
- Sudden breakage of parts fatigued by corrosion, sun exposure or wear.
- Leaks of water or sand from fillable bases that reduce stability and soil the area.
- Mould, bad odours or discolouration if canopies and covers are stored damp.
- If the accessory includes lighting or batteries, risk of damage from moisture or short-circuit.
Safe use
- Check the compatibility of the spare with the pole diameter, rib type and opening mechanism before assembly.
- Install on a firm, level surface, using ballast or a base appropriate to the parasol size.
- Tighten fixings gradually without forcing the threads; use appropriate tools and gloves to prevent cuts.
- Keep fingers clear of hinges and shear points when folding or tensioning the canopy; on larger models, carry out the operation with two people.
- Check that all parts are secure and aligned and perform a gentle open/close test before normal use.
- Close and secure the parasol when not in use, overnight or when wind is forecast; use straps or tie-down covers.
- For water/sand bases, fill to the mark, secure the plugs and avoid moving them when full unless designed for it.
- For accessories with lighting or batteries, use only the specified power sources, protect connections from rain and do not immerse controllers or chargers.
- Do not modify parts or mix non-equivalent fixings; use spares intended for your model.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean canopies, covers and parts with warm water and mild, pH-neutral soap; avoid solvents and abrasives.
- Dry fabrics completely before storing to prevent mould and bad odours.
- Periodically inspect screws, tensioners, seams, cords and ribs; re-tighten after the first few days of use.
- Lubricate swivel mechanisms or crank handles sparingly with products suitable for outdoor use, avoiding contact with the fabric.
- Check the condition of fillable bases: water/sand level, plugs and any cracks; in winter empty water-filled bases to prevent breakage due to ice.
- Protect metal parts from corrosion and remove surface rust when it appears.
- Store the parasol closed and secured, preferably under cover during periods of strong winds or prolonged inactivity.
- Replace without delay any parts that are cracked, frayed, deformed or with excessive play.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use the parasol open in strong winds, storms or sudden gusts.
- Do not hang plant pots, heavy lights or other objects from the ribs or pole.
- Do not allow children to handle crank handles, mechanisms or bases; keep small parts out of their reach.
- Do not stand on, climb or use the structure as an anchor point.
- Keep away from barbecues, patio heaters and other sources of heat or flame.
- Do not drill the pole or ribs to fit non-specified accessories, or fasten to fragile structures.
- Use only on surfaces and supports suitable for the weight and size of the set.
