Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Crushing of fingers or feet from accidental drops or when setting the dumbbell down without control.
- Muscle, tendon or joint injuries from using excessive loads, poor technique or fatigue.
- Loss of grip due to sweat, wet hands or slippery handles.
- Detachment of plates or parts on adjustable models if the locks are not properly secured.
- Knocks and pinches when changing plates or when two dumbbells collide.
- Floor damage and uncontrolled rebounds when dropping them from a height.
- Trips caused by leaving them in walkways or by rolling of models with rounded heads.
- Risk to children and pets if left within reach.
Safe use
- Choose a load you can move with control and good technique; progress gradually.
- Warm up before training and avoid abrupt swings or uncontrolled jerks.
- Dry your hands and the handle thoroughly before each set; remove rings or objects that could snag.
- Check there is no play and that stoppers or locks are properly tightened on adjustable dumbbells.
- Keep a clear area and a stable, non-slip base; wear closed-toe footwear.
- Control the lowering and set the dumbbell down carefully; avoid dropping it from a height.
- To lift from the floor or return to the rack, bend your knees and keep a neutral spine.
- Stop the exercise if you feel sharp pain, dizziness, tingling or a sudden loss of strength.
Storage and maintenance
- Store dumbbells on a stable rack or on the floor against a wall; avoid walkways.
- Keep them out of reach of children and pets.
- Avoid inclined or unstable surfaces that could cause rolling or falls.
- Wipe off sweat after use and dry thoroughly to reduce corrosion and odours; avoid abrasive products.
- Periodically check handles, coatings, threads and locks; replace worn or damaged parts.
- On adjustable models, store with the plates seated and the locks engaged.
- Avoid high humidity and prolonged sun exposure; protect the floor with a suitable base during storage.
Usage restrictions
- Use by minors only under adult supervision and with loads appropriate to their size and capacity.
- Do not use if you have a recent injury, inflammatory pain or extreme fatigue.
- Avoid overhead exercises in spaces with low ceilings or near objects.
- Do not use dumbbells on slippery surfaces, loose rugs or unstable platforms.
- Do not modify, drill or remove stoppers, locks or coatings.
- Do not use them as a support, step, doorstop or for any purposes other than training.
- During pregnancy, or conditions that limit exertion or balance, reduce the load and intensity and avoid movements that compromise stability.
