Usage Warnings
Hose and Taps Connectors
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Leaks from poorly fitted connections that may cause slips, water damage or wastage.
- Sudden disconnection due to high pressure with possible hose whip and impact injuries.
- Minor burns if used with hot water or if water becomes overheated by the sun in the hose.
- Pinches or minor cuts when handling quick connectors or threads.
- Deterioration from frost or prolonged exposure to the sun (UV), with a risk of cracks and breakage.
- Contamination of drinking water by backflow or by residues of chemicals in the hose.
- Electrical hazard when using water near sockets, cables or electrical equipment.
- Thread and diameter incompatibility that may damage the tap or connector and cause leaks.
Safe use
- Check size and connection type compatibility before installation.
- Turn off the water supply and relieve pressure before attaching or detaching any connector.
- Screw and fit by hand, without forcing or overtightening; avoid tools that could damage the threads.
- Check the condition and correct placement of seals and O-rings; replace any that are worn or damaged.
- Turn the water on gradually after installation and check for leaks; rectify them before putting it into service.
- Do not pull the hose by the connector; hold the connector body to prevent breakage.
- Avoid twists and kinks near the connection point; use guides or supports if necessary.
- Do not leave the system pressurised and unattended for long periods.
- Keep the spray and connections away from sockets and electrical appliances.
- Use only with cold or lukewarm water unless expressly specified by the manufacturer.
- If using fertilisers or other products, rinse the hose and connectors thoroughly after each use.
- If connecting to drinking water outlets, prevent backflow of contaminated water by using suitable backflow prevention devices in line with the system manufacturer's recommendations.
Storage and maintenance
- Disconnect and drain the water after use to avoid residual pressure and bad odours.
- In winter, empty and store under cover to prevent frost damage.
- Store in the shade, away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight.
- Clean sand and dirt from threads and shut-off mechanisms to maintain a proper seal.
- Check regularly for cracks, wear, corrosion and looseness; replace damaged parts.
- Lightly lubricate the seals with a water-safe silicone product if permitted by the manufacturer.
- Avoid oils, solvents or harsh detergents that may degrade plastics and seals.
- After periods of inactivity, check and hand-tighten the connections and make sure there are no leaks.
Restrictions on use
- Not a toy; keep out of reach of young children.
- Do not use with gas, fuels, solvents or liquids other than water.
- Do not use with very hot water or steam unless specifically indicated by the manufacturer.
- Do not use with pressure washers or other high-pressure equipment if the connector is not rated for it.
- Do not drink water that has passed through the hose or connectors unless the assembly is expressly rated for drinking water.
- Do not use connectors that are cracked, deformed or have damaged seals.
- Use by minors or persons with limited dexterity should be supervised.
- Do not modify, drill or sand the connectors; use only the accessories provided by the manufacturer.
